Rolling Stones' Keith Richards Calls Mick Jagger Unbearable
Keith Richards has released a new memoir recently, and in it he pulls no punches when talking about Mick Jagger.
They may have a certain chemistry on stage, having wowed audiences around the world for many decades, but that doesn't mean that Keith Richards and Mick Jagger don't have their differences. In a recent memoir, Rolling Stones lead guitarist Richards revealed that he and Jagger spent much of the past several decades arguing, sometimes vehemently, over a variety of issues, most notably Jagger believing that it was "bigger than the Stones."
The new memoir, titled "Life," has some other interested information about the relationship between the two. Notes Richards in the book, "It was the beginning of the eighties when Mick stated to become unbearable." Richards added that Jagger's attitude "started at first to annoy me and then slowly enraged me." Richards even went so far as to discuss Jagger's sex life, noting that there were problems in the bedroom between Jagger and his one-time girl Marianne Faithful.
Despite all the apparent vitriol, Jagger has read the book and apparently it did open his eyes. Richards noted of Jagger, "He was pretty tough on me, as far as I'm concerned. He had set himself a separate agenda that didn't include any of us, and riding on the Stones' fame to do it. And I thought that was a cheap shot." Richards added of Jagger, "we're not really friends anymore but we'll always be brothers." He also likened his relationship with the lead singer to a marriage, noting that there has been no divorce, and his desire to be close to his bandmates, saying, "I would prefer to be close as guys. But I don't socialize the way Mick does. Mick probably finds me far too serious and idealistic."
