Rioma Ekitzen, at Teen Academy: Chapter Two
Rioma meets his classmates and some of his teachers.
"Hi, I am Michael Tyson, the monitor of this section of the Grade Prima. You must be Rioma Ekitzen, right?" the boy asked him in a warm voice.
Rioma, who was in a sense of awe, hardly brought out the following words through his dry throat, "Yeah, I am Rioma. Nice to meet you."
Now everything became clear to Rioma. One of his uncles was a representative of the Teen Academy. He had mentioned Tyson's name while talking to Rioma over phone a couple of days earlier. He informed him of Tyson's meritorious results in the preliminary selection of students for Grade Prima of Teen Academy. The reason of him becoming the monitor of the class was his outstanding reports in education and his strictness which surpasses many teachers.
Tyson was the child of a wealthy businessman who is known for his rude behavior and attraction towards money. But Tyson himself was in no way similar to his father. He was wise, honest and friendly. Brought up in an environment filled with the cries of pain, he developed a bitter hatred for any sort of illegal or cruel activities. He hated his father bitterly. His mother had mysteriously vanished about five years ago. And he had a younger sister who was suffering from an incurable disease which prevented her from breathing properly and walking. He had decided to be an explo-scientist (explorer + scientist= explo-scientist, was his own creation) to invent a cure for his sister and find out his mother, whom he still believed to be alive.
Rioma was random impressed by anyone. But the character of Tyson really did bring some interest in his mind. Now for the first time he examined Tyson carefully. Tyson had a tall figure, broad shoulders and strong arms. His hair was golden. He wore oval spectacles through which Rioma could see his brown eyes. His appearance and manners made him a smart, young person.
Rioma was confused of what to say. But Tyson assisted him by saying, "Come on, I'll introduced to everyone."
"Alright," Rioma had no objection.
The two of them walked to the front of the class. From there Rioma saw the vast view of Mount Atlas and a blue lake linked to one of the most gorgeous waterfall Rioma had ever sighted. As Rioma applied his concentration on this, Tyson introduced him to everyone. The crazy students had not given Rioma a notice when they were busy with their childish activities. Now they were quite surprised to see this newcomer. Most of them were much taller than Rioma. So seeing him, they began to make some giggles. "Don't attend to their words," Tyson advised, "They are the evils among the devils." Rioma himself was ignorant to their teases.
However, Tyson continued his duty of introducing everyone to Rioma. There were a total of twenty-seven students in the class, eleven girls and sixteen boys, with the inclusion of Rioma. Among the boys there were Tyson, Fabiano, Sidney, Leo, Kemp and Mike who were quite friendly. The others including James, Jack and Jay were very teasing. The girls here were from no angle less naughty than the boys. Rioma found only two girls, Emily and Angela, polite enough to fit to be girls. The rest of them, especially Amelia, Ashley and Kate, were too talkative and naughty to be girls.
However, after this odd period of introduction (at least Rioma believed so) Tyson informed him of the rules and regulations of the school. He told him that the students are allowed to visit their home and family once in three months for a whole week. The rest of the time, they have to stay either in the school lodge, or in an island nearby. The school starts at 07:00 a.m. in the morning, and ends at 04:30 in the evening, depending on the courses taken. The lunch hour starts at 01:00 and ends at 01:30.
Neither Rioma, nor Tyson believed this information to be important. But Tyson was ordered to do this. However, on being asked where the teacher was, Tyson told that the lunch hour was going on. Rioma was not hungry as he had already eaten before coming here. Therefore, he kept on talking with Tyson and Fabiano about various administrative factors of the school.
After about fifteen minutes, the teacher came. It was Latin period and the teacher was a man with short (Hitler-like!) mustaches. He was named Mr. Jordan. But although some kids broke into soft laughter seeing him, Rioma quite enjoyed the class. The teacher seemed efficient. And Fabiano assisted him as well (though Rioma hardly needed anything).
The teacher departed after a class of one hour. The next class was Physics. Rioma was fascinated about this subject from his very childhood. He was quite good in it as well. Therefore, this time, instead of Fabiano helping Rioma, it was Rioma who was eager to assist his partner if he faced any confusion. The teacher who took the class was a middle-aged woman of fair complexion and friendly behavior. She was named Mrs. Shirley. Unlike Rioma's private teachers, she took steps to make it easier for Rioma to settle down and be free. Rioma enjoyed this period so much that he had not the least bit of attention on how the time flew away. When the teacher left, Rioma saw Tyson coming up to him. He informed Rioma that it was Christianity Studies period and since he did not include it in his courses, he had to get out of the classroom for this period. Rioma agreed hesitantly and went outside into the park.
Rioma could not think of a better way of spending the time than exploring the huge school-library. So he approached the smaller building where the library was supposed to be located. He had to use his library card to get in. He was amused with it and was happy as well, as he loved books of all sorts. He saw the library master sitting behind a desk at the back of the huge room. He had a short and stout figure.
However, Rioma took a science fiction book of considerable size and sat down to relax and read. He enjoyed the story and passed a happy time before he had to return to his classroom again.
When he went back to the classroom, the teacher had already left and the students sat in their positions for the next class, Mathematics. It was the same Mrs. Shirley who took the Mathematics class. She was equally friendly and expert in this class as in the Physics period. Rioma had a few problems, but Mrs. Shirley solved it all in a friendly manner. It was the last period before break. And soon the ting-ting of the bell pulled an end to the class labor of the day.
