Rihanna Says Brown Beating Aftermath was Humiliating

Rihanna described the feeling of going to sleep as Rihanna and waking up as Britney Spears, with an onslaught of paparazzi.
Rihanna recently spoke in an interview with Glamour magazine about the struggle she faced after news broke of the incident that involved her beating at the hands of then-boyfriend Chris Brown. Rihanna said that she was not expecting the media onslaught and that she was especially disturbed by the leak of her photograph by the LAPD. The photo of her beaten face became an Internet sensation and was always leading any story that involved coverage of the incident.

Rihanna explained that she is hopeful that her experience will help others who are currently in abusive situations. She correctly pointed out that victims of domestic abuse are often silent - the crime itself, in fact, is silent. It's embarrassing and humiliating to even talk about it, let alone seek help and support.

She said that her experience underscores that the importance of bringing abusive partners to justice. "Domestic violence is a big secret," Rihanna said. "The positive thing that has come out of my situation is that people can learn from that. I want to give as much insight as I can to young women, because I feel like I represent a voice that really isn't heard. Now I can help speak for those women."

Rihanna has maintained a relatively low profile since the incident and Chris Brown is currently serving a sentence of 6 months of community labor, which coincides with his 5 years' probation on charges of felony assault. The two appear to have been in communication with one another, but there relationship status has never been confirmed.
