Rihanna Expected to Testify Today in Preliminary Chris Brown Hearing
At some point today, it is likely that a judge will ask Rihanna to testify as a witness in the case that the L.A. prosecutor has built against her former boyfriend Chris Brown.
The preliminary hearing that is occurring today in a Los Angeles courtroom will determine whether or not the judge believes the state has compiled enough evidence to make a case against Chris Brown. Based on everything that has leaked through various media sources to date, it would seem highly likely that the case is going to trial and that Brown is going to face multiple felony accounts for his alleged attack on Rihanna.
But stranger things have happened in the courtrooms of Los Angeles. Just ask OJ! With the level of legal wrangling that is surely taking place behind closed doors, much of the process will likely be pre-determined before the players actually reach the court room.
It's practically a certainty that Rihanna knows whether or not she is going to be called to testify and she is certainly going to be well-prepared for any statements she is to make or any questions that she is to answer. Prosecutors and Brown's defense team have undoubtedly discussed every possible scenario in the hopes of reaching a mutually agreeable deal that would eliminate the need for a trial. The problem there is that the prosecutor can't let Brown go without serving some time for what has become a highly publicized attack. While Brown's attorneys are getting paid far too much for their client to willingly accept a sentence that includes real jail time.
As the case moves forward toward an actual trial, it will be likely that one side will realize that it will be best served to make a deal - and that's when a deal will happen. Until then, it's all posturing and great gossip news.
