Right Side Neck Pain
Are you experiencing an excruciating right side neck pain? Here are the causes, symptoms and treatments for right side neck pain.

Causes of Right Side Neck Pain
So what causes this unholy pain? A right side neck pain is most definitely a pulled muscle. How did you pull the muscle in the neck?
- Muscle Pull while Working Out: Think back to the last time you did your shoulder workout. Did you do something wrong while working out? Did you make a wrong move? Did you overstress the shoulder muscle by picking up more weight than usual? Well, then that may have caused the pain in right side of neck. Muscle pulls after a workout are very common as people forget to do their warm-ups causing muscle pain. Hence, if you perform a heavy workout on a cold muscle, the chances of you pulling a muscle are quite high.
- Wrong Posture: A wrong posture may also be the cause of that niggling right side neck pain. If you sit in a wrong position for too long, or sleep with a pillow that you are not used to, you might get a pain in the neck, because, you continuously held your neck in a position which your neck is not used to.
- Blow to the Neck: A blow to the neck is another cause of right side neck pain. This is a very common cause of neck pain in people practicing martial arts or actively involved in other contact sports. A fierce blow to the neck may injure the muscle causing a right side neck pain or for that matter even a left side neck pain.
So how do you know if you have a pain in right side of neck? Here are some of the most obvious symptoms. The first symptom is a sharp pain in neck when you try to move it. Even the slightest head tilt will cause a sharp neck pain. Secondly, you will be able to feel a little hardness around the neck which will inhibit your neck movement anyway.
Treatment for Right Side Neck Pain
Here are some of the best ideas for treating a pain in the right side of the neck. You can also refer to neck pain relief.
- Ice Pack: An ice pack is perhaps the oldest remedy for any muscle pull. Apply an ice pack to the part of the neck which is hurting and hold it up for about 20 minutes. Apply the ice pack 4-5 times a day.
- Apply Heat: The second way of treating a right side neck pain is by applying heat. Once the swelling reduces and the pain dulls, you could apply a hot water bag or a heating pad to the part of the neck where it is hurting.
- Avoid the Pain: Make sure that you study all the above causes of the pain and ensure that you work on them. Is the pain there because of a heavy workout, a bad posture or a strong blow? Find out the cause and try to avoid it in the future. After all, prevention is better than cure!
