Review of the Sleep Better Memory Foam Mattress Topper
I discuss the Sleep Better memory foam mattress topper including its features, pros and cons.
The Sleep Better 2-Inch Visco Elastic Mattress Topper is made with 2.5 pound density memory foam. The topper is designed to improve the comfort of one's existing mattress and reduce nighttime tossing and turning to provide a better night sleep. The pad measures 58 x 77 x 2 inches and covers virtually the whole surface of a queen mattress. Care calls for spot cleaning with warm water and a little soap to remove most stains.
This topper is comfortable and can bring new life to an older mattress. The product is temperature and weight sensitive, meaning that it will conform and mould around your body. In other words, you will sink into the foam somewhat and it will contour around you. The result is increased comfort because of less pressure your body feels, especially your hips and shoulders. Don't be surprised if you sleep better at night and wake up without aches and pains.
Memory foam with density below three pounds is usually not considered to be very helpful, but somehow this topper with its 2.5 pound density gets the job done. Density any higher than three or four pounds might be too firm for some people. For example, Tempurpedic brand toppers have around 5.5 pound density.
The Sleep Better topper comes compressed (and looking awful) and needs about 24 hours to expand to its full size, at which point it looks normal. Even at its full size, it is a 1-2" smaller than a queen size mattress. I think this is on purpose so that your fitted sheets will still fit.
The product does off gas or smell when it is new, but the odor goes away after a few days, especially if you leave it in the garage or under a covered patio. It's best not to breath the odor it gives off at first because it has been known to give people headaches and or cause nausea.
