Retirement: Can Recreation be FREE?

Our long anticipated retirement brings with it the plans and dreams of time, to do whatever it is we love to do! However, those "things" we have waited so long to have the time to do, can eat away at our retirement funds faster than you might imagine.
Deciding to retire in a place that has free recreation is critical in making your retirement monies stretch and still provide you with the lifestyle you have thought and dreamed of so often.

Consider carefully the recreation you love the most. It can save you a lot of money. Whether it be spending time at beaches of the Outer Banks, Wilmington NC, Charleston SC and Myrtle Beach to the foothills in South Carolina and the mountains in North Carolina, there is plenty to do throughout the Carolinas to fit any lifestyle. And, the cost is FREE.

Many towns and cities in North Carolina and South Carolina have free street festivals throughout the year. Asheville North Carolina is home to the Bele Chere festival, if you love the water, Beaufort, SC is home to the water festival, and don't miss the barbeque festival in Lexington, NC.

Both North Carolina and South Carolina have an abundance of free parks and recreational areas. There is plenty of hiking and biking or just walking paths to enjoy. It is possible to have fun in retirement without breaking the bank.

If golf is your passion, rather than going to the exclusive country club once a week, you hit the public links 3-5 times a week. Maybe instead of going to a prime time movie, you catch the matinee.

And honestly, do you really need 397 channels?

Retirement can be all we have thought of and dreamed about. Be creative, enjoy!!
