Thackery was roaming through the halls of his mansion, when he heard the noise of a car door slamming. He floated to the window and looked out. He saw a girl standing with her arms crossed and shouting. The sounds were muffled due to the thick walls. He shook his head lightly and floated into the room across the hall. His room. He saw a new sign, 'Sandra's Room'. He scowled and floated through the door. Soon enough he heard the opening of the front door and soft foot steps. They seemed to be getting closer. When they stopped at his door he gave a little chuckle. The door opened and in stepped the girl, he guessed, was named Sandra. She had softened her expression as she looked around. She moved towards Thackery slowly. She put her arms through him and opened the window. Thackery felt little sparks all over him and slowly wrapped his arms around her. She shivered and closed the window. She turned away from Thackery and he watched her put her blanket on the bed. Thackery watched her curiously and intently as she sat, then layed back on the bed. He didn't know why, but he thought her beautiful. He floated over to her as she sat up, and he sat down behind her, trying not to breathe. She shivered and got up, walking over to the closet. She opened it and her face got red as it contorted it into a scowl. Thackery knew she was mad again, so he traced himself to the swamp in the back yard. He heard a crash, then ruffling and he gave a small laugh. He leaned back against the tree and tilted his head back, thinking. He turned his head to look at the swamp trying hard to remember what happened before he died. And how he died. He sighed, leaning his head back again, looking back up at the tree's top. He liked this spot, because exactly beneath that tree is where he was buried.
~~**~~When he woke up, he wasn't breathing and he couldn't feel his body. It was dark, damp and he saw the dirt. He pushed himself up and he saw some worms and ants scurrying around. At first he was scared, not knowing where he was. But he turned his head to the left and saw a tree root. He almost jumped out of the ground, but saw he was floating instead. He heard a band playing the Watlz inside and floated through the wall. He saw his family and friends dancing, and his love in his brothers arms. Fury raged through him, but only he knew this. No one else seemed fased. His fury turned to confusion as he looked down at himself. He discovered hew as transparent but with a white glow. He floated up to Sarah, his love, and put a hand up to touch her. But all it did was go through her. She shivered and his brother held her closer. He expected her to push him away, say that she had already found a suitable man and lover. But she looked up and batted her eyelashes flirtily at him, and not much later his brothers lips crashed onto hers. Thackery clenched his fists in blind rage as this happened. The candles in the house flickered out and one of the oil lanterns exploded. The women screamed as the men held them close. Soon it was completely dark and Thackery watched as his love and his brother slowly inched their way up the stairs.~~**~~
He shook his head violently, trying to forget that. He sighed trying to relax when he heard those soft, delicate foot steps again. He glanced over at the porch and saw Sandra gazing lovingly at his swamp. She sat on the railing of the porch and began to draw. He grinned and looked up again, only to close his eyes. He heard her pencil stop and looked at her. His eyes grew as he noticed that she was looking at him. She smiled and he heard her say for him to stay still, and he did. Thackery watched her finish her sketch. As she held it up and turned away, Thackery traced back up to her room in a panic. He paced back and forth in the room with his hands in his hair. "How could she have seen me? After all these years of not being seen, this teenage girl can see me?" He asked himself as he laid down on the bed. He let out a sigh. Part of him was really happy that he could talk to someone now, but part of him was upset that he had even been seen by such a naive girl.
