Reporting Live from Men’s Ring Store!

If we were a broadcasting station with the capability of telling people throughout the world what was happening in this vast land instead of simply being an online seller of men’s rings … what would we say?

Surely it would be more compelling than the benefits of the durable new tungsten ring collection or even the lustrous, black finish of ceramic rings. I mean these might interest the few who are searching for a men’s wedding ring but not the majority of people in this place we call earth. What would be the first message we would broadcast?

Would it be the disharmony in Iran and the potential election scandal complemented by the supreme dictator who stifles human thought, creativity, women’s rights and the freedom of conversation for his own lusty and dangerous powers? I think not.

Would it be about pop legends and musical icons, who were honored by congress in a moment of silence … the same icons who exploited children with an aggressive and uncontrolled physical drive and appetite gone mad? About men who turned out to be lost little boys whose best friends and playmates turned out to be other lost, little boys. Or simply musicians who talked of sex and violence and drugs with reckless abandon as if they were the way to peace and happiness and joy. No, more important things I believe.

How about news of jetliner crashes, stock market crashes, and wayward stock profiteers who have been sentenced to 10 times their life expectancies? I would look for something else, something more substantial and important.

I know - how about the men in national politics who have been unfaithful to their wives and children … maybe a David Letterman Top 10 List of unforgettable tragedies? We could bring out all kinds of sordid details of the horrors wreaked upon innocent families and then drag it out through the media until people stopped buying anymore - probably good for a week or so if we really milk it and research all the little juicy stores that are hard to find but well worth the cost once they can be poured out with the rest of the filth we could call news. Maybe not.

OK. OK. I have it. We could talk about the recession and interview the millions without jobs, the car dealerships being shut down all over America, the children without food, the parents without work and on the streets, the parallels to the Great Depression, and then show pictures of the countless faces with looks of despair and hopelessness …

If we were a broadcasting company instead of just an online dealer for men’s rings … what would we really have to say? Is there nothing positive in the world today? Is there hope? Is there love? Is there beauty? Is there a spirit of goodwill and genuine optimism? Well, we think so and we would just go searching until we found it and report on it and focus on it. We would make the news come alive for people needing a boost, a little more energy and skip in their step, we would shower the world with stories of sacrifice and hope and love. We would broadcast truth but we would showcase the praiseworthy, the virtuous and lovely. And now we have a question for you - do you think anyone would listen?
