You have seen some damages to your vinyl siding, after a stormy night. However, what would you do to repair it? Here is a simple procedure on how to repair vinyl siding. But, before you begin to replace the damaged siding, you need to first match the size and the color of the new vinyl siding with the old one.
Materials required
- Matching vinyl panel
- Zip tool
- Hammer
- Nails
- First, fix the zip tool and place it under the area to be repaired.
- Siding panels are usually interlocked and therefore, you need to unlock the damaged panel from the upper ones.
- Once you unlock it, remove the nails that were attached to it and keep the panel on a plain and even surface.
- Apply a coat of PVC cleaner to the rear side of the siding panel.
- Once this is done, take the new vinyl panel and fix it with the help of some PVC cement.
- The final step is to attach the repaired vinyl back to its place.
Replacement of vinyl siding

- New vinyl siding
- Measuring tape
- Zip tool
- Tin snip
- Hammer
- Nails
- The first step is similar to that of repairing a vinyl siding. You need to place the zip tool under the damaged vinyl siding and then remove it.
- While removing the damaged vinyl siding, take care that you do not damage the foam insulation present below the siding panel.
- Next, cut the new vinyl siding to the required length with the help of the tin snips.
- Further, fix the new vinyl sidings properly into the ridges, and lock them into the upper panel.
- Now, pull the bottom edge of the old upper panel above the replaced panel.
- If more than one panel is damaged, repeat the same steps.
