Repeated Yeast Infections

Yeast infection, also known as candidiasis is a fungal infection that affects people that are suffer from weak immune system. Yeast or candida is a fungus that can live anywhere and especially in the moist parts, when it comes to human body, parts that are the more dampish like mouth, rectum, esophagus, vagina and the blood stream as well.

Yeast infection is of a common occurrence in both sexes but it troubles females more than the males. It often comes in the form of vaginal candidiasis. Causes
Vaginal environment is basically acidic in nature. Any chance and things that cause change in this environment, can be a cause candida overgrowth symptoms. Several person habits can also prove unhygienic and inviting for yeast infections. These habits are douching, wearing tight clothing that bar the moisture to get evaporated and use of scented feminine products like sprays, sanitary pads and tampons can cause yeast infections.

Connection between antibiotics and yeast infections cannot be overlooked either. Antibiotics that are taken to treat various medical conditions along with several illnesses, that weaken the immune system, can lead to repeated yeast infections. These diseases are, diabetes, HIV/AIDS, and several such diseases. Many women also suffer with yeast infections during pregnancy as the immune system is pretty low, in that period.

Several other possible causes are stress, fatigue, insomnia or sleep deprivation, etc. There are chances that untreated yeast infection can also make the fungi to resist the medications that are prescribed to treat the infections.

Diagnosis and Treatment
Diagnosis of the infection is the biggest deciding factor for treatment of the yeast infection and health of the patient. According to most of the gynecologists, a woman is normal if she is suffering with less than three repeated yeast infections in the span of a year. Anything more than that must need proper evaluation and appropriate yeast infection treatment.

Treatment varies with every individual. Some women have severe sort of yeast infection and so they need treatment to match that level as well. It is a must to have a timely evaluation of the cause it can be a sign of yeast infection bacterial vaginosis, trichomoniasis, gonorrhea, chlamydia and such severe diseases, in disguise.
