Renewable energy refers to the type of energy derived from resources of nature. As the name signifies, it is non exhaustible, which is not so with non-renewable type, like fossil fuels. Environmental Benefits
Renewable energy is considered a green and clean form of energy. Take any of the renewable energy sources, sunlight, wind, water, biomass; they generate zero harmful emissions or pollutants in the environment. Compare them with fossil fuels that contribute a high percentage of air and water pollutants (e.g. carbon monoxide and carbon dioxide). The initial configuration and machine setup for obtaining renewable energy are costly. Consider for long-term use and you will find them less expensive than fossil fuels. Speaking about renewable energy disadvantages, there are just a few of them. The main concern is non-availability under certain conditions. Say for example; a calm day minimizes wind energy, cloudy day reduces generation of solar power and prolonged dry spells cut off hydropower. These are some of the circumstances that highly affects the production of renewable energy. In most of the cases, power plants and resources are built up in remote areas.

On a concluding note, renewable energy pros outweigh the drawbacks. The point is it causes negligible environmental pollution in comparison to non-renewable fuels, while ensuring a continuous energy supply at a low cost. Practically, it is the only solution for solving energy crisis, which is main issue in today's date. Hence, it is high time that we should switch on to natural resources as far as possible.
