Well, this diet plan requires the followers to lower or totally cut down foods that are high in proteins, sodium, phosphorus and potassium mainly because their consumption leads to high toxic waste production which is difficult for the kidneys to manage as well as impossible to eliminate. After having known what to avoid, let us see what all things can be included in the diet.
- Though animal protein should be avoided, you can include maximum of 3 servings of it daily in the diet. However, do not increase the intake beyond this.
- You can have natural cheese but avoid too much of salt and other salt substitutes. Salt is a food ingredient which is difficult to avoid however, it can be replaced by garlic, mustard and pepper.
- You can have 3 servings of fruits and 2 servings of vegetables without any worry however, avoid oily, junk and fried foods. Likewise, you can try out recipes using margarine, mayo and vegetable oils whenever needed.
- Dry cereals, breads, tortillas, wheat cream and oatmeal are some foods allowed for breakfast or snacks.
- Another aspect are the fluids. Water, tea, coffee, lemonade, carbonated beverages and cranberry juice are allowed but in limited amounts only.
- You can consume honey and sugar in restricted amounts if you ain't suffering from diabetes or related complications.
