How to Remove Pet Stains from Carpet
Pet stains can ruin your expensive carpets and removing pet stains from carpet once they have set in, can be very difficult. Removing pet stains from carpet will be easier, if it is done immediately rather than delaying the stain removal process. Removing pet stains and odors can be difficult, once they dry into the carpet fabrics. Follow the basic carpet stain removal precautions like not using harsh chemicals, do not scrub or use a brush, etc.
Removing Pet Vomit Stains
- Clean the bulk using a few paper towels and dispose it off appropriately.
- Blot the stained wet area with tissues or paper towels.
- Prepare a cleaning solution by mixing ¼ teaspoon of mild washing detergent with 1 cup of lukewarm water. Apply this solution to the stained area, using a cloth and repeat until no stain is transferred to the cloth.
- Prepare another solution by mixing 1 cup of white vinegar with 2 cups of lukewarm water and apply it to the stained carpet area.
- Rinse off the solution using clean, lukewarm water, by wetting the fibers of the stained carpet.
- Blot the area dry, by placing a couple of paper towels and leave it to air dry. After a while, use a vacuum cleaner to dry it further.
- To remove the odor, sprinkle some amount of baking soda and leave it overnight. Vacuum clean the carpet the next day.
- Soak all the moisture possible with paper towels or rags.
- Prepare a cleaning solution by mixing a cup of white vinegar with a cup of lukewarm water. Apply this solution to the stained area using a cloth and work the solution into the carpet fibers.
- Blot the area dry by placing a couple of paper towels or tissues.
- After the area has dried, sprinkle a liberal amount of baking soda on the stained area.
- Next, prepare a solution by mixing half a cup of 3% hydrogen peroxide with 1 teaspoon of mild washing detergent and pour the solution, over the baking soda on the carpet. Work the solution, along with the baking soda into the carpet fibers.
- Rinse off the solution using clear, lukewarm water by wetting the stained carpet fibers and vacuum to remove the excess moisture.
- Scoop up the all solids with a spoon or spatula.
- Wet the area with a solution that is a mixture of white vinegar and lukewarm water and apply it to the stained area.
- Blot the area dry by placing a couple of paper towels or tissues.
- Prepare a cleaning solution by mixing ¼ teaspoon of mild washing detergent with 1 cup of lukewarm water. Apply this solution to the stained area using a cloth and repeat until no stain is transferred to the cloth.
- Blot the area dry by placing a couple of paper towels or tissues.
- Sprinkle a liberal amount of baking soda on the stained area and leave it overnight.
- Clean the baking soda off the carpet using a vacuum cleaner.
