Red Steel - Review
When the Wii first came out, there was one game that really stood out for me, and that was Red Steel. I finally got the chance to play it, but did it live up to my expectations? Check out the article to find out.
I still remember the day Nintendo showed the Wii and how we would control or interface with games, and it was really exciting. I was pumped. They also showed off quite a few games, which seemed quite interesting to me. Yes, I will admit, the graphics for the Wii didn't seem too impressive. Even to this day, most of the games for Wii don't look that great to me.
That being said, the Wii isn't really about the graphics, it's about the way you interact with the games that makes the Wii so exciting. So anyway, as I was stating earlier about the launch games Nintendo introduced at the reveal of their system. There was one game in particular that really had me interested, and that game was Red Steel.
Red Steel is a first-person shooter, and that`s one of the reasons why I was so excited about the game. Before seeing Red Steel, the last first-person shooter that really had me interested and that I really enjoyed, was Goldeneye 007 for the Nintendo 64. I'm sure some of you know what I`m talking about. A pure classic in my opinion. So anyway, I was really pumped for Red Steel. It looked quite decent, and the Wii interface seemed like it would be a perfect match for this game.
To keep things short, I finally just got the game. Yes, I know, I waited a couple of years after launch to get the game, and you know what, I'm glad I did. I'm not glad that I purchased the game. I'm glad that I didn't pay full price for the game, and got it used instead, for a heck of a lot cheaper. The reason is, as I'm sure you've already guessed, the game is terrible.
And that's unfortunate. I mean, I was really looking forward to this game, and it's almost unplayable. The controls feel very clunky. For example, sometimes I'm trying to aim at a certain object within the game, but my target, or where I'm aiming, goes in a completely different direction. It just feels clunky. Even the sword portion of the game, it just doesn't feel good. It also feels clunky and not intuitive.
I'll be honest, when I first played the game, it underperformed so much for me, that I didn't feel like going back to it. But I did. I think I played that game three times, but I just can't go back. I just can't push myself to finish it. Why? Because it's unplayable. For a system that is looked at for it's cool interface, this game sure didn't deliver. The graphics are ok, but nothing spectacular. The controls are bad. And really, that's pretty much all I can say. So, do I recommend this game to you? I'm sure you already know my answer. That's right, no. Don't fret though, there are other first-person shooter games that utilize the Wii's control interface much better, just not this one though.
My name is Andres Garcia and my passion is gaming. I just enjoy them. I have and like my PlayStation Portable. I try and get the most out of my console by getting Free Psp Game Downloads from some great online resources. Simply click the "Free Psp Game Downloads" link to know more.
