In the initial stages, red blotches look like pimples or skin bumps. After a period 2 to 3 days, irritation will be experienced and then red spots and blotches will be observed. Sometimes, it appears extremely intense in the morning after waking up and tend to be milder in the latter part of the day.

Causes

There are various reasons that can cause this condition. If a person is allergic to a particular cloth material, then the development of red blotches can occur. Consumption of a drug, that you are allergic to, can also give rise to this ailment. In this case, these are commonly observed on the face, rather than other parts of the body. People who do a lot of physical exercise are prone to blotches on arms and legs. Wearing tight shoes and unclean socks can give rise to blotches on legs. Presence of debris, dust, viruses and bacteria in the surrounding area can cause red blotches. Too much exposure to the ultraviolet rays of the sun can also cause this. The dry and cold weather causes the skin to lose the much required moisture, which results in the rise of this condition.

Treatment

If these are due to the usage of a particular fabric, then discontinue its usage. If these are due to medicines, then you can visit the doctor who prescribed the medicine and ask him for a substitute. If the red blotches do not disappear even after discontinuing the thing which was responsible for it, then you can visit a dermatologist. Diet also plays an important role in the reduction of red blotches. Hence, make sure that you do not consume food which will intensify the red blotches. Try to avoid sugary and spicy food. Also make sure that the clothes you wear are clean. Do not forget to keep the infected area clean. After regular intervals, keep cleaning the infected area with freshwater. Do not apply any kind of cosmetics to the infected area. Make sure that the temperature of the room, where you are currently residing, is not very low neither very high. You can make use of air conditioners and room heaters for maintaining the appropriate temperature.

With a few preventive measures, we can stay away from red skin blotches. But, if at all you suffer from them, visit a dermatologist and opt for an appropriate treatment.
