Although there are more than 20,000 species of shrimps, only about 300 species are consumable. Shrimps around the world are known by different names like Shrimp Scampi and Prawns.

Red Lobster Shrimp Scampi

Ingredients
  • Peeled and Devined Shrimp – 1 Pound
  • Minced Garlic – 3 Tablespoon
  • Unsalted Butter – ½ Cup
  • White Wine – 1 Cup
Directions
  • Mix all the ingredients together and bake in a preheated oven at 350 Degree for 6 to 7 minutes.
  • Do not overcook the shrimp. The shrimps are done when they turn pink in color. Also, do not use margarine instead of butter.
  • If you do not have an oven you can saute the entire mixture on the stove.
Coconut Shrimp Scampi

Ingredients
  • Uncooked Shrimps in Shells – 2 Pounds
  • Hot Cooked Rice
  • Coconut Juice – 2 Cups
  • Pineapple Juice – 1 Cup
  • Lemon Juice – 2 Tablespoon
  • Thinly Sliced Onion – 1
  • Thinly Sliced Carrots – 2
  • Thinly Sliced Celery Stalk – 1
  • Ground Ginger – ½ Teaspoon
  • Garlic – 1 Clove
  • Curry Powder – 2 Tablespoon
  • Olive Oil – 3 Tablespoon
  • Salt, Pepper and Paprika – To Taste
Directions
  • Heat the water with salt in a big pot. Add the shrimps and cook until they turn pink but not opaque.
  • Heat the olive oil in a pan and saute the onion and garlic until they turn golden brown in color.
  • Add the curry powder and butter into the pan until the entire mixture is deep brown in color.
  • Add coconut juice, pineapple juice, seasonings and sliced vegetables and cook on low temperatures for about 15 minutes.
  • Add the shrimps and lemon juice and mix well.
  • Serve with rice.
Chinese Fried Shrimp Scampi

Ingredients
  • Large Peeled and Devined Shrimp – 3 Cups
  • Yellow Cornmeal – ½ Cup
  • Flour – ½ Cup
  • Beaten Egg- 1
  • Milk – ½ Cup
  • Baking Powder – ½ Teaspoon
  • Oil for Deep Frying
  • Salt and Pepper – To Taste
Directions
  • Mix the shrimps with 2 teaspoons of salt and a quarter teaspoon of pepper and let it stand at room temperature for 15 – 20 minutes.
  • In a separate bowl, mix the egg, milk, cornmeal, flour and baking powder with a quarter teaspoon salt.
  • Add the shrimps into this mixture and stir until all the pieces are well coated.
  • In a deep frying pan, heat the oil to about 350 degrees.
  • Add the shrimps in batches into the frying pan and fry till they turn light golden brown in color. This will take about 2 to 4 minutes.
Grilled Lemon Shrimp Scampi

Ingredients
  • Jumbo Shrimp – 2 Pounds
  • Thinly Sliced Green Onions – 1 Bunch
  • Chopped Parsley – Ό Cup
  • Minced Garlic – 3 Cloves
  • Vegetable Oil – Ό Cup
  • Fresh Lemon Juice – 3 Tablespoon
  • Dried Basil – 1 Teaspoon
  • Dry Mustard – 1 Teaspoon
  • Salt – 1 Teaspoon
Directions
  • Except the shrimps, mix all the ingredients together.
  • Marinate the shrimps with the mixture for 4 to 5 hours. Grill the shrimps about 4 – 5 minutes per side.
  • Serve with hot rice or pasta.
