Red Dots Around Eyes

Looking in the mirror, one may see red dots around eyes. Is this a cause of worry? Absolutely not! On the contrary, it is one of the minor eye problems that disappears on its own without any medical treatment. In fact, visiting an eye specialist for such a small reason is nothing but foolishness.

Red Dots Around the Eyes...

Blood supply to the eye comes from the blood vessels, more specifically from the ophthalmic artery. Anything wrong happens to these blood vessels, the effect is observed in the form of red areas in the white part of the eye. For instance, if blood vessels located inside the eye rupture or break, the blood gathers in the front portion of the eye. The accumulated blood, thus appears as red dots around eyes. Actions such as lifting heavy objects can make eyes red.

...After Vomiting
Damage to blood vessels around eyes can also occur due to violent vomiting. Bursting of blood vessels of the eyes from vomiting, appears as red dots. People who vomit hard are bound to suffer from broken blood vessels around eyes. As a result, the eyes can become quite red and looking at the mirror one feels as if the eyes are bleeding.

...After Crying
Many people don't understand why eyes become red after crying. Crying can put excessive strain on the blood vessels in the eyes. This undue pressure can break the blood vessels of the eyes and give rise to red dots. So, when people cry excessively, they are likely to complain about red puffy eyes after some time.

...After Drinking
In today's times, alcohol abuse is on the rise and is the prominent reason behind red eyes. Taking any type of beverage that contains alcohol in significant amounts, can be detrimental to the eye blood vessels. Studies have also proved that broken blood vessels are associated with alcohol consumption. Alcohol can cause expansion of blood vessels and also trigger high blood pressure in the blood vessels. This can cause blood vessels to burst, which can turn eyes red.

...After Coughing
Hard coughing can also lead to broken blood vessels in the eyes. The damaged blood vessels around eyes bleed, which may result in the occurrence of red dots. Even a hard or a violent sneeze is capable enough to rupture eye blood vessels. Although, sneezing is harmless, it can produce damaging effects on the blood vessels. Also, preventing a sneeze from occurring, can also put excessive strain on the eye. So under any circumstances, one should not hold back a sneeze from happening. This is because suppressing a sneeze can certainly cause subconjunctival hemorrhage (broken blood vessel in the eyes).

A point to note that appearance of red dots on white part of the eye will not affect the eyesight. At the most, mild scratching in the eyes might be experienced, which usually vanishes in a short time. Keep in mind that this eye problem is not a worrisome condition and remains for a temporary period only.
