Cappuccino is an Italian coffee drink that is popular the world over. It is prepared with hot milk, espresso and steamed-milk foam. The European cappuccino is different from the US cappuccino because the US cappuccino is generally served as a 12 oz drink, while the european variety is usually a 6 oz drink and there are other differences as well. These drinks are served in porcelain cups which help in better heat retention than a glass or any other cup. Because of its unique flavor and immense popularity, people often make it at home. Homemade Instant Cappuccino
Ingredients
  • 2 cups fat-free skim or 1% low fat milk
  • 2 cups strong freshly brewed coffee
  • 1 tablespoon granulated sugar
  • ½ teaspoon cinnamon or grated chocolate
Preparation
  • Pour milk in a 2-cup glass measuring cup. Put it in the microwave at full power for about 2 minutes.
  • Pour the hot milk in a blender container and add sugar.
  • Cover the blender container with a vented lid and blend until frothy for about 1 minute.
  • Divide the coffee into 4 cups for serving. Top each cup with frothy milk and sprinkle with cinnamon or grated chocolate.
Instant Cappuccino Mix
Ingredients
  • ½ to ¾ cup sugar
  • ½ cup instant coffee
  • 1 cup instant non fat dry milk
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon dried grated orange peel
Preparation
  • Mix all the ingredients together well in a blender.
  • Let the dust like particles settle down after turning off the blender.
  • Use 2 teaspoons per cup of hot water. The cappuccino is ready.
Cappuccino on Ice
Ingredients
  • ½ cup sweetened condensed milk
  • 1 ½ cup strong brewed coffee
  • ½ cup half-and-half cream (a mixture of half milk and half cream)
  • ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
Preparation
  • Combine coffee and milk in a bowl and whisk.
  • Add vanilla and half and half cream in the bowl and whisk until well blended.
  • Pour into a glass filled with ice.
Almond Cappuccino
Ingredients
  • 4 cups evaporated skim milk
  • 2 quarts brewed coffee
  • ½ cup packed brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon almond extract
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
Ingredients
  • Mix coffee, milk and sugar in a large saucepan and stir.
  • Cook the mixture, stirring continuously until the mixture begins to boil.
  • Remove the saucepan from the heat and add the required extracts. Serve hot.
Irish Coffee
Ingredients
  • 1 jigger Irish whiskey
  • Strong black coffee
  • 1 to 2 teaspoons granulated sugar
  • Whipped cream (chilled)
Preparation
  • In a pre-warmed 7 oz coffee cup, put whiskey and sugar.
  • Fill up to within 2 inch of top with coffee and stir until sugar is dissolved.
  • Top to brim with chilled whipped cream such that cream floats on top.
  • After you have added the cream, do not stir. Drinking through the cream gives you the true delight of Irish Coffee.
Cappuccino Truffles
Ingredients
  • 6 tablespoons butter, cut into 4 pieces
  • 11½ oz milk chocolate pieces
  • 3 tablespoons heavy cream
  • 1½ tablespoons instant espresso or coffee powder
  • Cocoa, confectioner's sugar and chopped nuts
Preparation
  • Cook milk chocolate pieces, butter, heavy cream and coffee powder in a 2-quart glass container at high heat for 1½ minutes, until all melt.
  • Stir smooth and freeze the mixture for about an hour until it gets firm.
  • Shape tablespoons of mixture into balls with your hands.
  • Roll in chopped nuts, cocoa, etc and refrigerate. The Cappuccino Truffles are ready.
