Recession proof career in Biomedical Science

Careers in BioMedicine is a recession proof career.
Biomedical scientist also known as a doctor, biomedician, or medical scientist, is a scientist educated in the field of biological science. Biomedical scientists carry out a range of laboratory tests to assist doctors in the diagnosis and treatment of disease and carries out laboratory tests on human samples to help clinicians diagnose illness and evaluate the effectiveness of treatment.

Biomedical science courses lead to a continually changing, dynamic profession with long-term career prospects including management, research, education Most biomedical scientists work in the National Health Service (NHS) and work closely with medical staff such as doctors and nurses.

Biomedical scientists in laboratories outside the NHS do routine tests on food, water, animal or forensic samples. Doctors treat their patients based on results of the vital tests and investigations done by Biomedical Scientists that diagnose often serious and life threatening illnesses such as cancer, AIDS or diabetes.

Education and Training in Biomedicine

Biomedical education programs known as Medical Scientist Training Programs are given at most medical faculties around the world, usually with the aim to create professionals with future leading positions in medical research and development.

Many students pursuing higher education choose to study biological or biomedical sciences. most people who study the biological sciences select a specific concentration, such as zoology or microbiology, which is the study of microscopic organisms. Biotechnology allows more opportunities ranging from the study of DNA and disease prevention to mapping the human genome.

List of Biomedical Colleges:
University of California, San Diego
Brown University
Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute

Biomedicine is Systems biology, the study of an organism, viewed as an integrated and interacting network of genes, proteins and biochemical reactions which give rise to life. Instead of analyzing individual components or aspects of the organism, such as sugar metabolism or a cell nucleus, systems biologists focus on all the components and the interactions among them, all as part of one system.

Choosing a career in Biomedical Science will allow one to be at the forefront of Biomedical Research and the Future of Public Health.
