Reaching For Love

A poem of love, longing and hope...
20 miles apart
Would as well be 200 or more
Distance makes no difference
We're where we were before
Both been betrayed both been let down
Both been to hell and back
Pressured until we're about to crack
Why we live these lives of pain
For little reward, and little gain
We're just the same, you and me
We think the same thoughts
We feel the same way
What miracle brought us together
To show that we're not alone?
Spinning around on this planet
Never touching another soul
Never dreaming that one even exists
Someone you can trust and who gives
Just as much love as you do
Who'll support and comfort you all the way through
Right to the end
The rest of your life
Waiting just round the bend
Someone to help you to mend
All the broken pieces of your heart and soul
Who tenderly holds you and makes you feel strong
Makes you feel whole
Not split into heart and head
But brings them together, giving you peace instead
Of lies and disharmony, anger and dread
Reach out and grab with both hands while its there
Times running out, the threads getting bare
Don't let conditional love be your fate
Risk the real thing - it’s yours to take
