Liotta, 53, was charged with misdemeanor driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol in Los Angeles after driving his SUV into two parked cars in February. He pleaded no contest to the charges as part of a deal with city prosecutors in exchange for a pending DUI charge to be dropped against him. Liotta was sentenced to three year’s probation, fined $300, and ordered to complete a 12-hour alcohol education program. He also agreed to pay restitution to the owner’s of the cars he hit.
On February 17, Liotta reportedly drove his SUV into two parked cars near his home in Pacific Palisades, California. A witness on the scene called the police and Liotta was determined to be under the influence. He was arrested and booked on suspicion of DUI. He was released later on $15,000 bail. His attorney Blair Berk blamed the prescription medicines he was taking for a sports-related injury for the crash. Berk said, "Ray had some unexpected drowsiness from the interaction of some medications prescribed by his doctor."
Most recently the Goodfellas star tried his hand at a television career with CBS’ Smith. The show didn’t fare well with critics or audiences alike and was quickly cancelled. He just recently voiced a caricature of himself in Jerry Seinfeld’s new hit movie Bee Movie. Liotta has a number of films upcoming. He is set to star in Chasing 3000, a "feel good" baseball movie, and Powder Blue, which also stars Forest Whitaker, Patrick Swayze, and Jessica Biel.
