While smoking cigarettes, people hardly think about the harmful chemicals present in them, neither do they think about the effects of smoking on the body. There is just a strong desire to evade the stress and get relaxed for a while. In such a 'noble quest', why to think about other factors? • Benzene: Benzene is a colorless hydrocarbon that is incurred from petroleum and coal. It is used in chemical manufacture industry and as a petrol additive.
• Ammonia: Ammonia helps the nicotine to turn into gas. Ammonia is mainly used as a flavoring ingredient in many products. It is also used as the main ingredient in dry cleaning solvents and toilet cleaners.
• Formaldehyde: Formaldehyde is highly poisonous and it is mainly used as a preservative for dead bodies. It is a colorless liquid and extremely carcinogenic.
• Tar: Most of the passive smoking effects are caused by tar and such other matters that are present in cigarettes. It is also a fact that more than 70% of the tar gets saturated in the lungs of the smoker himself.
• Hydrogen Cyanide: Hydrogen cyanide is extremely poisonous salt of hydro cyanic acid. It is the same substance that was present in the notorious gas chamber poison.
• Carbon Monoxide: Carbon monoxide is the main culprit for air pollution. It is the same gas that is found in the car exhaustion.
• Arsenic: Arsenic is a powdered trioxide of arsenic that is basically used in manufacturing glass and also as a pesticide and rat poison.

Rat Poison in Cigarettes
There are many essential rat poison ingredients, that are found in the cigarettes. What is rat poison made of? Well, along with above mentioned arsenic, there are a few other things that are used in manufacturing rat poison. They are several coagulants like brodificoum, warfarin, diphacinone, and bromadiolon, along with several metal phosphides and a really high dosage of vitamin D. Evidences also suggest that things like sodium fluoride, oxalic acid, barium carbonate and several such chemicals are also used as rat poison ingredients.

The doubt about rat poison present in cigarettes comes to mind due to the usage of sodium fluoride, because there is a significant amount of fluorine present in the cigarettes. Along with fluorine, there are several insecticides and pesticides that are also found in the cigarettes. In a similar noted case, a tobacco company scientist admitted during his testimony that coumarin was used for adulteration in the cigarettes. It is also a fact that the cigarette manufacturers do not intentionally buy rat poison and put it in the cigarettes, but it just happens so, that the rat poisons are found in cigarettes.

Cigarettes, that are amongst a few harmful products that are sold legally, cause major damages to the human body, with or without rat poison. Cigarettes themselves are potentially harmful for the smoker as well as the people that get affected by the smoke as with every puff of cigarette, there are just thousands of toxic and carcinogenic substances get active in and out of the human body. It is a bad luck that there are always the chances of harm even when a person uses the cigarettes within the prescribed limit.
