Raspberry Vinaigrette

Using raspberry to make vinaigrette lends the vinaigrette a different taste altogether. There are different methods, which can be used to make raspberry vinaigrette. Let's take a look at the recipe now.
Often we see that the bottled dressings, which we pick up from the market contain high amount of sugar in them and not to forget additives and preservatives as well. The cost of these dressings is often also on the steeper side. However, if we can make a number of dressings at home at minimal cost will it not be great? The common dressing is the balsamic vinaigrette dressing. One of my favorite dressing is the raspberry vinaigrette dressing. Not only does the homemade dressing taste fabulous, but it is also easy to make and is healthy at the same time.

There is one thing which attracts me the most to this homemade dressing. It is the color of the vinaigrette. Not only does the vinaigrette make the salad colorful, but also vibrant. One can use the vinaigrette to make salad. It can be served either on nuts or on fruits. Without wasting any more time, we will now see the recipe to make vinaigrette using raspberries.

Raspberry Vinaigrette Recipes

Vinegar is used to make raspberry vinaigrette. The other ingredient, which is common to a number of recipes is vegetable oil. If you are making the salad dressing during the months raspberry is available, then you can use fresh raspberries, else you can use raspberry jelly or raspberry wine vinegar, etc. Having said that we will now turn to salad dressing recipes.

If the fresh berries are not available, the frozen berries can be used alternatively. However, before you make the salad dressing, it is important that the berries are thawed properly. If the berries are not thawed appropriately, then it may ruin the taste of the vinaigrette.

Ingredients
  • ½ cup fresh raspberries
  • 3 tbsp red wine vinegar
  • ½ cup vegetable oil
  • 2 tbsp honey
  • 1 tbsp Dijon mustard
  • 1 tsp fresh lime juice
  • salt and pepper to taste
Preparation
  • In a blender, combine red wine, vegetable oil, honey, mustard, lime juice, salt and pepper.
  • Whisk the ingredients till a well mixed mixture is formed.
  • Now add raspberries to the mixture and blend well again.
  • You can either choose to strain the vinaigrette or use vinaigrette without straining.
  • With this recipe, you will be able to make 1 ¼ cup of dressing.
  • If there is some leftover, it should be stored in the fridge.
  • Ensure that the dressing is whisked well before use.

This recipe makes use of raspberry vinegar, therefore the task becomes rather easy.

Ingredients
  • 2 tbsp raspberry vinegar
  • 1/3 cup grape seed oil or canola oil
  • salt to taste
  • Freshly ground pepper to taste
Preparation
  • In a blender, blend together raspberry vinegar, salt and pepper.
  • Then gradually add oil to the mixture and continue to whisk the mixture till well mixed.
  • The vinaigrette should be stored covered in the refrigerator.

This recipe uses raspberry jelly. It is one of my favorite method of making vinaigrette, as it can be made in any season, even when raspberries are not available.

Ingredients
  • 2 tbsp raspberry jelly
  • 2 tbsp red wine vinegar
  • 4 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tsp Dijon mustard
  • Salt and pepper
Preparation
  • Combine all the ingredients in a blender and mix till well mixed and smooth.
  • It can also be whisked in a small bowl, but it may not give the same results.
The calories in this vinaigrette depend on the amount of oil used in the dressing. The number of calories decrease when healthy oil like olive oil is used to make the vinaigrette. This dressing goes well with the fruits salad or with walnut salad. It is best to store the dressing covered in the refrigerator itself.
