Rapper 50 Cent Settles Custody Dispute
Rapper 50 Cent and his estranged girlfriend, Shaniqua Tompkins, reached a custody settlement in the ongoing dispute over their 11-year-old son, Marquise.
The custody settlement reached by 50 Cent, aka Curtis Jackson, and his former girlfriend succeeds in keeping the couple out of court and out of what would have likely become a much-publicized custody battle. Instead, the parents agreed to terms of Fiddy getting one weekend per month, one month per summer and split time during spring and winter vacations from school.
It's believed that the agreement favored the proposal put forth by Shaniqua Tompkins and her legal team. Despite the fact that he didn't get the visitation schedule that he was hoping for, Fiddy seemed happy to put this ordeal behind him and focus on the remaining dispute involving he and Shaniqua.
Tompkins launched the bitter custody battle early in the summer after she accused the rapper of conspiring to burn down the Long Island home where she was living with her son after Fiddy tried repeatedly to have her evicted from the property. The investigation into the cause of that fire is ongoing and is being conducted by the Suffolk County Arson Squad.
50 Cent has been questioned by investigators regarding any possible role he may have had in starting the blaze, but no charges have been filed at this point. In an attempt to defend his name and declare his innocence, Fiddy filed a $20 million defamation lawsuit in June against Shaniqua. The home in question was valued at $2.4 million.
