In the first level, dieters have to avoid fruits, carrots, beet, corn, processed carbohydrates, and sugars. Level two is considered to be a more relaxed phase and the dieters are allowed to eat some of the fruits and vegetables that were excluded in level one. Once the dieters go through these two levels, the next level is the maintenance stage and you have to eat according to the nutrition principles you learned during level one and two.

Atkins Diet
The Atkins diet has been around since the early 1970s, Dr. Atkins believed that the major contributors to weight gain were processed carbohydrates. The Atkins diet centers one the principle of changing the metabolism of the body. It restricts eating carbohydrates so the body uses stored fat as a source of energy and dieters experience weight loss. This rapid weight loss technique is implemented in four stages, the first stage is the induction phase which lasts for two weeks.

In the first phase dieters can't have more than 20 gm of carbohydrates in a day, some of the Atkins diet foods to eat in the first phase are vegetables like spinach, broccoli, cauliflower, etc. The second phase known as the ongoing weight loss has to be maintained till you are 10 pounds off the target weight. In this phase you can increase the intake of carbohydrates and quantity of vegetables you eat. This stage has 9 different sub stages and you add a few foods in each sub stage. The third is a maintenance stage in which you increase the carbohydrate intake by 10 gm. Last is the maintenance stage where you eat according to what you have learned in the earlier phase, if you start putting on weight you can switch back to a previous stage.

Rapid weight loss diets can sometimes pose health concerns, if followed for longer duration because they deprive your body of many essential nutrients.
