Rituals during Ramzan/ Id ul Fitr
Ramzan is celebrated on the ninth month of the Islamic calendar, it is the month when 'Holy Quran' was revealed up from the heaven by Allah for the human beings in 615 AD for the guidance and the declaration of the religion. The Islamic calendar is based on the lunar calendar (means it is based on the moon and not on the sun).
The devotees use to practice fasting for all through the month of Ramzan which is widely called as "Sawm". During this period Muslims usually goes to the Masjid and they use to spend hours while studying Quran and recite prayers which is called the Taraweeh (night prayers) in addition to 5 daily prayers.
Muslims from all over the world celebrates the festival by fasting throughout the month that increases the concentration and the purification of the soul and to get near to the God. There are certain things that are strictly prohibited during the month of Ramzan that are smoking, drinking, meat and sexual relations. Telling lies, slandering, false oath, betrayal, are considered to be the offensive during the month of Ramzan.

Both children and elderly people of the Muslim community celebrates the festival with great enthusiasm. These people used to clean up their houses during the month of Ramzan. The people used to exchange greetings and gift hampers which is to wish 'Id Mubarak'. People used to celebrate the festival with sweet aroma of seviyan and shir korma which is made up of the milk and dates. During the festival the people used to visit Delhi for the glimpse of Jama Masjid which is the largest Mosque of the country.
