Almost all the children as well as adults love to eat noodles. But once you taste Ramen noodles, I am sure; you won’t forget its heavenly taste. Ramen noodles are a type of Japanese noodles. They are made from wheat flour, water, salt and kansui, which is a type of alkaline mineral water. Use of kansui gives the noodles a yellowish hue and a firm texture. Ramen noodles come in a variety of lengths and shapes. They may be thin, fat or ribbon-like as well as wrinkled or straight. Inexpensive and easy to prepare, Ramen noodles are a staple for the college students and bachelors. It can be used to prepare versatile lip-smacking dishes. You can spice up simple Ramen noodles with fantastic variations including beef, chicken and different vegetables. Here are some exotic Ramen noodle recipes that your children will simply love.

Asian Style Chicken and Cabbage Salad

Ingredients

2 packages of Ramen noodles, uncooked and broken fine
1 whole chicken breast, cooked and chopped
1 head of cabbage, sliced thin
4 green onions
6 tsp rice vinegar
2 tsp toasted sesame seeds
¼ cup chopped toasted almonds
1 tsp sesame oil
4 tsp sugar
½ cup vegetable oil
1 tsp pepper
2 tsp salt

Preparation
  • In a large bowl, combine together sliced cabbage, Ramen noodles, chicken breast, green onions, toasted sesame seeds and toasted almonds.
  • Now let’s prepare the dressing. Mix together vegetable oil, rice vinegar and sesame oil in a bowl. Add sugar, salt and pepper to taste. Pour this dressing over the salad.
  • Keep it overnight before serving, so that all flavors are combined well.
Cauliflower Chicken over Ramen Noodles

Ingredients

1 bag of frozen cauliflower
1 package oriental flavored Ramen noodles
2 skinless, boneless chicken breasts, cut into 1" chunks
1 small onion, diced
1 tsp soy sauce
1 tbsp light-flavored olive oil
1 tsp Japanese hot mustard
A handful of chopped chives
1 heaping tsp of minced garlic
½ tsp garlic powder
Salt and pepper

Preparation
  • Cook and drain Ramen noodles. Mix them with seasoning package. Keep the noodles aside.
  • In a pan, add onion, minced garlic, garlic powder, mustard and soy sauce in the heated 1 tbsp of olive oil. Then add diced chicken to it and fry it briefly.
  • In another pot, boil cauliflower, until it becomes tender. Then drain and chop it into small chunks.
  • Then fry cauliflower chunks in 1 tsp of olive oil. Add pepper and salt to taste. And then add chives to it.
  • Pour cauliflower into the skillet with the chicken and stir it well.
  • Place the prepared Ramen noodles in the serving plate and add the contents of cauliflower-chicken dish to it. Sprinkle some chives over the top of the dish and add soy sauce. Now your sumptuous dish is ready for serving.
Spicy Shrimp and Noodle Soup

Ingredients

2 packages shrimp or oriental flavored Ramen noodles
1 lb shrimp
¼ tsp chili powder
1 tbsp lemon juice
5 cups water
¼ tsp ground cumin
2 cups salsa
1/8 tsp black pepper
1 can corn
1 green onion, thinly sliced
1 can of 15 oz black beans, rinsed and drained

Preparation
  • Peel and devein shrimp.
  • In a medium bowl, mix together chili powder, lemon juice, pepper and cumin. Add this mixture to shrimp and mix it well. Allow it to stand for about 20 minutes.
  • In a large saucepan, bring water to boil. Add Ramen flavor packet with stirring. Break Ramen noodles into pieces and add to the boiling water. Cook for about 1 minute.
  • Add shrimp, beans, salsa, green onion and corn to the noodles. Heat it, until shrimp turns pink.
