Rainy Day Games

But if you are the sporty kinds, well, there are a lot more exciting games to play on a rainy day outdoors and they are so much fun as well! Therefore do not be a couch potato on a rainy day, go out in the rain and have a blast! However, you can have almost the same fun if you are not too keen on getting all soggy and wet in the rain. So are we up for some games for a rainy day? Here goes!

Fun Games for a Rainy Day

Indoor Games

Rain Maker: This is a very interesting indoor game, particularly when there are kids around. Take along cardboard tube, covering one end with plastic or contact paper. Now, take a few toothpicks and stick them on the tube randomly. Then, glue these sticks and attach beads to the ends sticking outside. Next, what you can do is fill 1/3 rd of the tube with dry beans or peas. Follow this up by covering the open end similarly and decorate the outer part as you want! Tilting of this tube would create a sound close to that of raining. Enjoy this even on a dry, sunny day!

Bird Watching: Well, if it isn't raining too hard, you can contemplate playing this game. For this game, spread some bird seed in your yard and tell the kids (or even you can guess, if you wish) to guess the kind of bird which will be attracted to the specific bird seed. This is one of the most entertaining and educating rainy day activities for kids.

Good Old Scrabble: This is a game which can be enjoyed and played by all age groups. If you love to fiddle and play with words and are pretty good at it. Yes, it is the ultimate word game, scrabble. I guess, I do not need to tell you how to play scrabble!

Paint the Umbrellas: This is a complete fun when it comes to rainy day games. If you have a few plain umbrellas, then this is a great activity for the elders as well as the kids. Along with the umbrellas, have some fabric paints, water proof glue and plastic decorations at your disposal. So, out you come with these supplies, the next time you are storm-struck and have a ball of a time painting the umbrellas!

Outdoor Games

Paper Boats: This does not need any description, does it? Prepare paper boats and just place them on the spot where there is a water flow. Mere looking at these boats sailing off is a delight!

Croaking Along: If there is a pond or lake in the vicinity of your house, it is a perfect setting for rainy day games. What you can do at the pond is count and identify frogs and tadpoles! This might sound childish but it is fun! Ask your kids to identify the frogs and have a gala time catching the tadpoles!

Splash it Up: If you cannot think of anything else, simply have a puddle walk and splash the water on each other! It is amazing fun, you would not know if you are getting wet because of the rain or the splashing of water!

Play Soccer: There is nothing more exciting and adrenaline pumping like playing soccer in the rain! If you have a park nearby, then its just perfect! Gather your chummies and have a ball!

Love is in the Drops: In case you are absolutely in a romantic mood, well well, there could be nothing better than that! If you have your special someone along with you, then go for a long drive (no prizes for guessing how long!) and then you would surely know better about where to pull up your car. Enjoy the picturesque view and then, pull up the windows and get mesmerized with each other, never to stop again.

These were just a few from the plethora of rainy day games you can play. Have a great time enjoying the rain, be it inside or outside the house!

Do not let the thunder, storm your fun and mood!
