Rabbit Hutches Basics Information
Some good and helpful information on setting up your rabbit hutch and what to look out for.
What is a rabbit hutch?
Well, to put it briefly, it is a rabbit room, or cage, depending on how you want to treat it. It is primarily made of wood, and also wiring. From my experience, it is usually 80% wood material 15% mesh wiring, and 5% misc. other materials including nails, springs, etc.
It's primary purpose is to control your pet, but in this instance we are referring to rabbits environment. The idea is to keep everything happening in one spot, where your rabbit can play, eat, clean, learn, exercise, all from the comfort of his own virtual house.
You can definitely fit more than one rabbit in there, and from the way rabbits breed, this will most likely be the case. If the rabbits run out of room it can be unhealthy for them if they get too cramped, and you should keep this in mind when designing it.
Where do I find one?
The good news is that as long as you live in a somewhat decent-sized city, you can buy one locally and save the money on shipping. If you can't find one locally, at your nearby pet shop, pet smart or similar location then you can find them online at many places, and if you do some shopping and bargain hunting, you might be able to avoid a lot of shipping. The hard part could be that you have to assemble it once it does arrive, which a lot of people are not prepared or able to do.
The bottom line is that they are great tools for nurturing and keeping a rabbit or rabbits that you care about, and once you get one and learn the basics, it only gets easier!
