Let us accept, there are side effects of quitting smoking. But, they can be treated, and are relatively minor as compared to the harmful effects of smoking. Here is a list of potential side effects or withdrawal symptoms.

Depression

Headache
Frequent headache and difficulty in concentration are other prominent effects. A person may also feel sick and uncomfortable constantly. Increased circulation of oxygen to brain also causes dizziness in a person.

Anger
When a person quits smoking, he also finds it difficult to control his temper. He often feels frustrated and loses his temper. This results in other complications like chest pain and digestive disorders. In order to avoid this, controlling anger is very important.

Insomnia
The person may suffer from insomnia and does not get a deep sleep like he had earlier. He feels as if he has been awake the whole night. This further results in fatigue and frustration. Vivid dreams or nightmares are also experienced by people.

Apart from the aforementioned ones, a person may also experience swelling, bloating, diarrhea or constipation, fidgeting, etc. When people quit smoking, they tend to overeat, and, hence, gain weight. It is recommended to consult the doctor if you experience any of these symptoms. Medication or home remedies for the symptoms should also be taken only under the doctor's supervision.

A balanced diet and regular exercise will be helpful to live a healthy lifestyle. Apart from this, drinking water will also be helpful as it helps in rejuvenating the skin by flushing out the toxins from the body.
