Question About a Story Idea!
A love story with a murky ending. Help wanted!
Hey guys! My sister is working on a story and she's hit kind of a snag. I told her one of the best places to go for help is here! Please give us some feedback so she can figure out how to iron out her story. It would be appreciated very much! As much help as possible would be awesome! Thanks!

Plot: The story is about two girls who were college freshmen roommates named Ashley and Kristin. They quickly became good friends. Fast forward two years Ashley is an aspiring fashion model, dating a popular Spanish soccer player. Kristin is still attending college getting her degree and working two jobs to pay for it. Wanting to gain US citizenship in order to play for the US soccer team Ashley's boyfriend, Josh, asks Ashley to marry him. Declining his offer Ashley offers a second proposal (it was not beneficial for her career to be married at the time).
Ashley suggests that he has a marriage of convenience with someone else. And within a year they could be divorced and then she will consider marrying him then. Not wanting him to marry someone she felt was competition for her, Ashley asks Kristin to be the bride for hire with the benefits being her college tuition being paid off and free housing. Hesitant at first, Kristin accepts under the condition that they never get married in a church and they never kiss and her identity is kept in secrecy (she won't be telling her parents). Within months Josh finds himself under the close eye of INS and promptly decides to move in with Kristin to make the pretend marriage look real. Through their daily interactions over the next few months they begin to fall in love with each other unbeknownst to Ashley. In the end Kristin must choose between her friendship with Ashley and a true relationship with Josh.
Dilemma:
Is this a good story plot? If yes, why do you like it? If not, why don't you like it?
And please tell me which you would prefer:
1. Happy ending: Kristin gets with Josh and she and Ashley stay friends?
2. Semi-happy ending: Kristin gets with Josh but loses Ashley?
3. Semi-happy ending #2: Kristin loses Josh but keeps Ashley?
4. Unhappy ending: Kristin ends up alone with no Ashley and no Josh?
