Queen Palm Tree
Queen palm trees are low maintenance trees, and are resistant to pests and most problems. But, apart from being a good choice of tree to grow due to its hardiness, the queen palm is also an attractive tree which has a gray colored trunk and beautiful clusters of flowers and fruits during summer.

Instructions for Growing & Caring for Queen Palm Trees
Apart from the palm tree maintenance being easy, another benefit of growing these trees is that they grow very fast, and hence one need not wait for a long time to see a full-grown queen palm. The tree can reach to a height of 25-50 feet and spread to a size of 15-25 feet. When good care is observed, this tree can grow to an average height of 6 feet in one year.
- To plant a palm tree select a sunny site, and dig a hole which is around 4-6 inches larger in size than the container size. Fill the hole with 2 inches of sand at the bottom. When planting more than one queen palm tree, keep a space of 25 feet between individual trees.
- Take the tree gently out of the container exposing the roots, and place it in the hole, and keep 2 inches of the top portion of the root ball exposed above the ground.
- Back fill all around the root ball with a mix that has equal ratios of sand and original gardening soil. Queen palm tree fertilizer, which is bone meal or triple phosphate, should be added to the soil mix.
- The pH levels of soil should be maintained between 6.1 to 6.5.
- Tamp down the soil, and create a berm of 2-3 inch diameter. Then wrap the tree trunk with a large piece of burlap away from the base up to ¼ of the tree height. Fill the well created by the berm with 2.5 inches of mulch to keep the roots cool and moist.
- Keep the soil well drained, otherwise there is the possibility of tree falling down. Keep watering the tree whenever required.
- The tree doesn't require much pruning, but pruning can be done when there are too many fronds growing at one time.
