Put in flooring like the professionals

Some things are better left to the pro's but flooring is not one of them. With teh right techniques you too can put in a beautiful floor in your own home.
One thing that we all have in common in our homes is that we have flooring. The funny thing is that though we all walk on them all day long very few individuals stop to think about what it is that they are standing on. Only when a person tries to install a floor themselves do they truly realize that not only is it a lot tougher than they thought to put down but it is a lot more difficult than they thought to prevent problems and troubleshoot issues while they are installing it. As a professional flooring installer the one tip that I can give to people who are installing their first one is that preparation is everything.

No matter how beautiful the material you are putting in is, if you do not prepare the surface properly the floor will look like trash. If I were to point out the most important preparation step to never skip it is scraping the floor. No matter if you are putting in a finish floor directly on the cement or putting a sub floor on the top you must scrape the floor down perfectly. Lots of people think that if you are putting a sub floor and a finish floor that total to one and half inches of wood on top of concrete that any bulges like pebbles or drywall compound will just be absorbed by the wood. Not to say this cannot happen but if you count on it you will be very upset when it smacks you in the back of the head. Just like real estate has location, location, location, flooring has prep, prep, prep and don’t you forget it.
