Things required

• Cotton fabric (patterned or plain)
• Scissors
• Fusible interfacing
• Embroidery thread
• Needle

Procedure

For making this purse organizer, first you need to cut the fabric into two equal pieces each measuring 11″ x 4 ½ ″ with ½ '' seam allowance. Cut the fusible interfacing with the same measurement. Iron the interfacing to the fabric pieces that you have just cut. Place one of the fabric piece on the work table with the patterned side facing towards you. Place the other piece of fabric over the first fabric, with the interfacing facing towards you. Now mark a 2 inch allowance around the perimeter of the fabric and sew it on all the three sides, leaving one side open. Once you are done sewing, turn the sewn fabric, which resembles a pocket inside out. Stitch the top edge of the fabric by folding it 1/8 inches towards the bottom.

Next, fold the bottom of the fabric towards the top at 1 ½ inches and sew it. Place a credit card on the fabric to mark its width. Sew the fabric at the marked point. Place other necessary items like cell phone, compact and makeup kit over the fabric and mark the width of these items. Sew at the marked pints vertically to get the right fit for these items. You can easily fit in 6 compartments with this measurement of fabric. You can fold the compartments of this purse organizer and place it inside your purse.

This pattern can be customized for your purse depending on the size and shape of your purse. The best material for making a purse organizer is cotton since silk or other synthetic material is not firm enough. If you have a bigger tote purse, you can make eight to ten compartments for your purse organizer. A compact purse organizer like this is quite handy when you change from one purse to another.
