Puppies Save Toddler Lost in Woods

Two puppies stayed with a lost 3-year-old and kept him warm after he walked away from his baby sitter and spent the night in the woods in sub-freezing temperatures.
Jaylynn Thorpe wandered away from his baby sitter near Halifax, Virginia and ended up spending the night in the freezing woods, while hundreds of rescue workers and volunteers frantically searched the area where he disappeared. Miraculously, the 3-year-old survived the night in temperatures that were as low as 17 degrees by huddling with his two puppies that accompanied him on his dangerous journey. Jaylynn somehow walked away from his baby sitter around 4 PM on Friday afternoon and was not found until nearly 1PM the next day, more than a mile from where he was last seen.

The boy and the two dogs spent the night in the woods and the boy told his rescuers that the dogs slept up against him and kept him warm through the night. The boy was discovered sitting against a tree with the dogs nestled up to him. Even as rescuers examined Jaylynn and eventually took him to the hospital for precautionary examinations, the dogs would not leave his side and watched him the entire time.

The boy spent Saturday night in the hospital and feasted on cheeseburgers, french fries and strawberry ice cream. The dogs were also rewarded with food for their heroism. Look for Jaylynn and the pups to be making the rounds on your favorite talk shows in the coming weeks. This is one of those stories that people will want to talk about for some time to come.
