For Children
Pumpkin Pinocchio
This idea requires a little imagination and effort to make pumpkin a 'crowd-pleaser'. Take a pumpkin that cannot sit or a less than perfect pumpkin, so that the stem would become the nose. Paint the nose Tuscan red and prime the surface of pumpkin with multi-purpose sealer. Paint the eyes close to the stem with white and black. Use olive-green colors to paint hair tuft just above the eyes. Dress him with a top hat for the evening. These painted pumpkin faces look awesome and attractive.
Pumpkin Leggy Spider
Cut the pumpkin from top and bottom to make it flat. Paint it all black. Use white color to paint mouth and eyes. Stick black pompom on the white base of eyes and purple pompom for nose and a boa of same color on the head for hair. For legs use the soft tufted cord that is generally used in embroidery, called chenille. Bend the chenille and attach them to the pumpkin. This long-legged arachnid, a homemade Halloween decoration, can be very easily made by the kids.
For Adults
Pumpkin Silhouette Painting
Draw a face of a witch or a ghost or a bat with a pencil or you can also use stencils to make the task quick and easy. Cut it out from the pumpkin. Paint the complete pumpkin with white color and then paint the silhouette black (this will include the interior of the pumpkin). Apply a layer of varnish so that the paint sets and shines. Encircle the silhouette with a black lace and decorate it with pins that are pearl-headed.
Haunted Pumpkin Mansion
Painting a ghosted mansion with windows chiseled in the pumpkin would give haunting looks. Draw a haunted mansion on the pumpkin and a moon behind it to make it look like a scary night. Cut out the windows in it and candlelight the pumpkin from inside.
