Publishing A Newsletter - A Few Things to Consider - Part Two

There are literally hundreds of procedures pertaining to building a successful business online. Building a substantial subscriber list is a critical part of all of them and publishing a newsletter/ezine is one of the most effective ways to create and grow that list. This insightful, two part article offers some insight into the creation and operation of your newsletter.
There are many hidden aspects of everyday news publications. Be sure to read PART ONE of this candid look into owning and operating your own online newsletter or ezine.

As the publisher of your own newsletter, the subjects which you cover in each issue that you publish obviously should be focused mainly on the theme of your website or at least closely related to the products or services which you are marketing. This can, at times become difficult to adhere to quite simply because there is only so much you can say concerning most any subject.

While it is quite appropriate, at times, to include articles or information which has been authored by someone other than yourself, it is critical that you provide fresh subject matter that your reader can put to use rather than trying to feed them last weeks news all over again. Always keep in mind, yours is probably not the only newsletter your reader is subscribed to. Make it a point to stay abreast of new happenings in your field of marketing. Remember, your competition is watching.

Your ability to connect with your readers on a personal level and expand their interests along with your own will become a key to the success or failure of your publication. It is very wise to be planning ahead rather that trying to construct an issue for publication at the last minute. However, don't get so far ahead of yourself that your publication turns out to be "old news" by the time you deliver it. Timing is crucial.

Planning ahead can benefit you in more ways than one in that it is a very good idea to schedule the actual delivery of your publication at preset intervals. No matter what schedule you choose, stick to it and your readers will begin to expect to hear from you at those intervals. This also provides you the opportunity to "surprise" your readers with special offers which become available between your scheduled publication times. You must however bear in mind, this is definitely a situation where "more" is not necessarily better. If you allow yourself to fall into the "sell, sell, sell" mentality you likely won't last long and your subscriber base will dwindle very quickly.

On those occasions when you do offer your subscribers a product or service, never, ever, make a recommendation for a product/service which you are not totally familiar with. Preferably you should have used the product/service yourself and be prepared to provide them with your personal testimonial as to the quality of the product being offered.

This is very important because you are basically putting your reputation on the line. Bear in mind, it is a sad but true fact that there are many so called "gurus" out there who are willing to say anything to get you to buy their products. Never take someone else's word when recommending a product unless you totally trust that person with your reputation.

There are many things you will need to do in order to become a successful newsletter publisher, three that come to mind are; Be Honest, Be Reliable, Be Personable. As you progress with your publication and your subscriber base begins to grow, your personality will shine through and your dedicated readers will become not only your friends, but also your best customers.
