Public Transport Not Accessible to All

A new report has found that there are inconsistencies concerning public transport for disabled people.
A recent study into the public transport system in the United Kingdom has seen it branded as inaccessible to some. The report was carried out by mystery commuters with disabilities and presented to parliament for consideration.

To get a wide picture of the state of the public transport system for people with disabilities, trips were carried out between different destinations with observations being recorded along the way. The study was organized by Trailblazers who are an organization with a mission to fight against injustices experienced by people with muscle diseases.

Some of the main points from the report show up the inadequacies of the present system. In some cases wheelchair users were given no other option other than to pay more money for a train ticket where a bus service was available. This is due to the fact that there is a high number of buses which are inaccessible to wheelchair users.

There were other instances where a disabled commuter was denied access to a bus due to either inaccessible bus conditions or an unavailable wheelchair space. Due to the inconsistencies of the public transport system disabled commuters end up using taxis or wheelchair accessible cars more often which increases their cost of living.

The report at mdctrailblazers shows that even though the discrimination act is in effect in the U.K. It still has a long way to go before the whole country is accessible to everyone.
