Even though there are three major gaming companies, the two biggest rivals are Sony and Microsoft. Eventually Microsoft will devise a portable Xbox system that will rival the Playstation Portable system, but until that time Sony is the leading contender. It is important to note that though your system will operate without the updates, it is in your best interest to utilize these system enhancements.
