PS4 Release Date
If you are one of those thousands of gaming fans out there waiting eagerly for Sony to announce the PS4 release date, the following information about the next generation Sony console rumors will be of some help for you.
Hardcore gaming fans just can't seem to get enough of what Sony has to offer, and a look at what people are expecting from the next generation video game console - what we assume will be titled PlayStation 4 (PS4) with respect to Sony's tradition of naming its consoles, makes it all the more evident. Though Sony is yet to announce the next console in the PlayStation Series, the world wide web is rife with rumors about the same. In fact, the Sony next generation console is one of the hottest topics in various discussion forums dedicated to gaming, with rumors and speculations about its release date, features and price flooding these forums.
Sony PS4 Release Date Rumors and Speculations
As of now, Sony has refrained from revealing anything about their next generation gaming console. While the sources suggest that the company is already working on the (alleged) PS4 console, the senior officials from the company are evading any question about the same. Back in January, when Shuhei Yoshida - the senior vice president, product development, SCEI, was asked about the possibility of launching the next video game console in 2012, he simply laughed it off. Some sources suggest that Sony has no intentions of launching a successor to the highly popular PS3 console any time soon - at least not for another two years, as they intend to concentrate on the emerging 3D market.
That the launch of new video game console is not happening anytime soon, is something that we have been hearing from most of the senior officials from Sony for quite some time now. They further add that, the life of Sony's current console, which according to them is 10 years, is far from over. Even though we understand that the company can afford to take such stance, the chances of holding on to it - especially when the life of electronics is fast shortening, are quite dull. A look at the glorious history of PS2 reveals that it continued to be in picture even 2 years after the release of PS3. By that logic, even if PS4 is released in late 2012 or early 2013, PS3 will continue to exist till 2014-15 - and that will obviously do justice to their claim of PS3 having a life of 10 years.
Yet another reason for all this hype about PlayStation 4 release date, is alleged release of the much-anticipated Xbox 720 - the next generation video game console from Microsoft, which is scheduled for late-2012. Again, there has been no official announcement from Microsoft, but rumors about the possible release of Xbox 720 are making some noise in the tech arena. But obviously, if Microsoft releases its next generation console before Sony, it will give the company a definite edge in terms of competition. Now that is something which won't really go down well with Sony, and they will be invariably forced to hasten up its next generation console, whether they desire it or not, for some obvious (competitive) reasons.
Sony PlayStation 4 - What to Expect
Of the numerous rumors about Sony PS4 that we get to hear nowadays, some seem more than promising. If we go by these rumors, the next installment of PlayStation console will feature a motion gaming system similar to Microsoft Kinect, support HD graphics and 3D gaming, have enhanced sound quality, and so on. It is also rumored that the new PlayStation 4 will come with a revamped design which will be totally different from current console. All these though, are just rumors and speculations which may or may not come true. But obviously, the PS4 console is bound to be better than its predecessor - every next generation console is. The question is when will we get to see one, and how will it fair against the tough competition from other consoles with which its release is expected to clash.
If you are having a tough time trying to figure out which is better between PS3 and Xbox 360, the choice is going to become even more difficult with the launch of PS4 and its Microsoft counterpat the Xbox 720. If not more, Microsoft Xbox 720 console is surely making as much buzz as the PS4. Even though Xbox 720 release date is yet to be announced, a clash between the two is certainly on the cards. With Sony showing no signs of interest in talking about the PS4, we have no option but to sit back and speculate its release date and features - and wait for the company to throw some hints at us.
PS: While most of the rumors about Sony's PlayStation 4 hint at the possible release scheduled for Q4 2012 or early 2013, we might get lucky and get a glimpse of this console E3 2012, scheduled to be held from 5th to 7th June - just being hopeful.
