PS3 Themes - How to Install

The new edition (PS3) of the revolutionary gaming console PlayStation, from Sony, is a big hit. This one had way too many features as compared to its predecessor the PS2. You can play games, watch Blu Ray movies, view photos, listen to music, AND surf the web via your PS3 system. You can also change your PS3 themes. Their installation process will be explained later in the article. PS3 themes based on popular movies, TV shows, etc., are readily available online, and the best part is that they are regularly updated depending on the public demand. However, if you are not completely happy with the theme you have downloaded, you also have the freedom to customize your theme as per your liking. While the cheats and tips for the PS2 are widely available, those for the PS3 are a bit hard to find.

Steps to Install PS3 Themes

1. The first step is pretty easy. Look up terms like "PS3 themes", "themes for PS3" or with the genre name, like "PS3 movie themes" in a search engine. There are hordes of websites, blogs and portals that provide mind-blowing PS3 themes from every genre imaginable. You can use your PC to search for the themes or you can also use the Internet explorer provided by your PS3.
2. Now that you have the website URL which has your favorite theme, navigate to the website from your PS3. For this you will need to connect your PS3 to an active Internet connection.
3. Open the PS3 Internet Browser from the main menu of the PS3, the Xross Media Bar (XMB) by going to "Network" and selecting "Internet Browser".
4. Go to the website and download the theme you have chosen. It is the standard point-and-click browsing and navigation just like in a web browser software on a computer.
5. Once the theme has finished downloading, exit the PS3 Internet Browser. Now, go back to the main menu, XMB, and go to "Settings" then select "Theme Settings" then "Theme." Find the theme that you just downloaded, select it, and select "Apply." Wait a moment and the new theme will now be applied.

Installing Through A Memory Stick

1. Connect the memory stick to your computer. Open the stick through the "My Computer" icon.
2. Click on "File," "New" and then "Folder". Replace the "New Folder" title with "PS3".
3. Now Open the "PS3" folder and create a new folder as in the 2nd step and name it "THEMES"(Capitalize the entire word in both folders you create).
4. Copy the PS3 theme to the "THEMES" folder on the memory stick.
5. Insert the memory stick into the USB port in the front of the PS3. Turn on the system with the power button or the middle button on the controller. The PlayStation 3 cross media bar will appear.
6. Scroll to the "Settings" tab with the d-pad on the controller. Press down to the "Theme Settings." Push "X" button.
7. Highlight the "Theme" icon. Press "X." Scroll to the "Install" tab and push "X" again.
8. Select the memory stick by highlighting it. This is under the "Select a Storage Media" window. Press "X" button.
9. Choose the theme you saved to the memory stick. Scroll through and highlight the correct theme. Push the "X".
10. Select the newly installed theme in the right window. When you press "X" the background will change with your new PS3 theme!
