Crunches
For this stomach flattening exercise lie down on your back on an exercise mat with your hands crossed behind your head. Bend you knees and place your feet as close to the buttocks as you can. Ask your trainer or buddy to stand on your feet so that you have stability during the range of motion. Tuck your chin into your chest and crunch your body and lift your torso off the ground. Exhale as you come up, try to touch your chest on the thighs and hold position of one count, before coming back down while inhaling. Repeat this movement for desired repetitions.

Leg Raises
For this abdominal exercise routine lie down on your back on an exercise mat with your legs fully extended in front of you and toes pointing towards the ceiling. Cross your hands behind your head and slowly raise both your legs off the ground to almost a 45 degrees angle. Exhale as you lift your legs and inhale as you get them back down. Stop a couple of inches short from the floor when you get your legs down. If you are a beginner you can start by doing one leg at a time.

Doing crunches alone is not enough you need to start some cardiovascular exercises. Cardio routines are only effective when you do them for at least 35-45 minutes, if you are not able to keep up in the beginning slowly work your way up to this mark. Danger with cardio exercises is that it gets boring at times, to avoid this try different routines like hiking, biking, swimming etc. Adding variety to your cardio routine will help you lose beer belly quickly.
