Protecting your website from Stealing Dogs: Use Javascript Coding for avoiding content theft

Just imagine this scenario::-- After brainstorming for innumerable hours long in to the darkening nights for three months, you have finally created the content for your website. And copied in to its web design, it looks immaculate and the language used by you perfectly narrates the goals of your company.

Your face is blossomed with smiles, as your friends are applauding your efforts; your previous clients are also giving great feedback for your new website. Now there’s a sense of optimism rising in you………You are saying to yourself--- This website will change my future. You are pretty sure that the new website will explode the enquiries desk in your company.

All things went very well until you find another website, who has copied eighty percent of your text and images. And you are furious….very angry……..how could someone steal my idea so easily……… Can I do something to nail that dog* down…..you open that website and see its contact box and make a call to its owner ask him to take away your material from his website…..

Thanks God…He turns out to be a humble being, he cordially take your material out of his website. This time your idea is saved but what lies for the future……………….

No it’s not Dark…………….And read this article……….

This article will teach you the tricks you can use to protect your content. These tricks are not fool proof, but still they close down doors for not all of them but for many stealing dogs.

Idea here is to make the copy of your website difficult by creating several psychological barriers like:

1) Saving your text from stealing dogs: The most commonly used way of copying the content is to move the cursor through text or images and right clicking the mouse for copying or saving it to hardisk.

Here you can avoid the selection, so the content cannot be copied. By simply adding a option onselectstart= false in the body tag of your website source code. This will prevent any selection from the user.

And your Body tag will look like this <BODY onSelectStart="return false">

2) Protecting Images of your website: Images are generally copied by right clicking the mouse for copying or saving it to hardisk.

Saving your images requires a little effort from you. In this you have add an option on mousedown= option in your IMG tag.

It will somehow look like this

<IMG src="…" … onMouseDown="noclick()">

This option will completely stall any effort to press mouse button, but this might be uncomfortable for you customers on your website. So we have to jam the right click only, because most of right clicks are use for copying and pasting things.

"And most of these right clickers will be the people trying to copy your ideas."

So in order add that right click property we have add extra coding here…

And the javascript for it will look like this:
<SCRIPT LANGUAGE="JavaScript">
function noclick (scx)
{
if (navigator.appName == "Netscape" && scx.which == 3)
{ alert ('right-click disabled');
return false;
}
if (navigator.appVersion.indexOf("MSIE") != -1 &&
event.button == 2)
{ alert ('right-click disabled');
return false;
}
}
</SCRIPT >

For a Netscape browser use scx.== 3 , or for MS-IE by , the right-clicks are sorted out.

So, here, whenever someone tries to copy your property by right clicking get a message that the right click has been disabled(or any other text you think appropriate like "WELCOME THE LAZIEST BEING IN THE WORLD"—Please eat craps elsewhere…).

*Dog here refers to people stealing images and content from other websites…..these are the laziest beings on earth, who earn their living by stealing the creativity of other people
