Protecting Love - Chapter Six

I have some comment replies below the story so read them. Also the drama thickens!
***Brittney's POV***

I didn't know if Mallory was going for sex with Aiden tonight or something else but I deemed her dressed inappropriately to go to the Italian restaurant Jeremey and I had picked out for everyone. She had on short shorts that hugged her bottom and she had on a red tight v-neck tank top. From the way Joey cringed I figured she noticed this. I squeezed her hand.

Jeremey had told me the dirt. Everything. I had wanted so bad to tell Joey what a bitch Mallory is but then, Jeremey had told me the plan. I hoped it went well. I looked at Joey's t-shirt. Aiden liked this one. It was a good thing I knew Antonio, the restaurant's owner, because Antonio was completely and utterly afraid of dinosaurs. Even cute lovable ones on harmless t-shirts. Joey caught me staring and she smiled in her cute and innocent way.

She was, like, impossible not to love. I wanted to hug her, then. Mallory rolled her eyes and we left her room after she checked her makeup. Aiden said he hated makeup. He said it made them fake. It was a good thing Joey only wore chapstick. We sat on the porch swing and Joey sat on my lap when Mallory and I took up all the space.

"What are you? Homosexuals?" She asked nastily and Joey's face colored.

"What are you? A homophobe? They get nowhere these days. Besides, she's supper light weight," I slid my eyes her way, "Compared to some people." I told her and her cheeks flamed.

Just then, the jeep pulled up. Joey hopped up and I stood up. Yeah, Joey deserves to be happy.

We all piled in the car and Aiden blushed looking at Joey. She sat next to him in the back. Mallory sat next to him on the other side. So, I sat up front with Jeremey. We grinned at each other mischievously.

"To Antonios." I announced and Joey's head snapped up from staring dreamily at Aiden.

"B-but my shirt!" She said and her cheeks flushed.

"I like it." Aiden told her and she about fainted. She swayed but Aiden caught her. Then, she yelped before pulling back.

"S-sorry." She stammered out.

"No problem." He whispered into her ears. Joey giggled.

I smiled at Jeremey and I caught him staring at me from the corner of his eye. I frowned only slightly before we pulled into the parking lot. We piled out and I spotted Alistair standing besides his car. My heart pounded in an odd way but I went with it.

I walked up to him and leaned up to kiss him on the cheek, "Hey baby." I said to him huskily. I hooked my arm through a grinning Alistair's arm. I turned to the others and caught Jeremey's slight frown. Joey showed extreme happiness. Mallory's face was fixed in a scowl. Aiden looked as if he were in heaven with Joey besides him.

I lead the group through the front doors and Antonio came up. He kissed my cheek and hugged me. Antonio was thirty-ish and he was like a second better dad to me.

"I missed you, too." I told him and the large man with black hair and honey eyes grinned to show several teeth missing from a fight he'd gotten into a couple of days ago.

"Mija, please, allow me to seat you and your friends." He said and I nodded. He placed his band on my shoulder and guided us to a table for six.

When we got seated, he took our drink orders and gave us menus.

"You, like, know him really well," Joey commented and everyone nodded in agreement.

"I come here a lot." I said and dismissed the curious stares. I had come here since I was very little and my parents still loved me. When I'd lost their love, I had started coming here more. My favorite place in the world.

Antonio's newest waiter, Alex, came up to give us our drinks and take our food order.

"Hi, Alex," I said as he gave me my Pepsi. He smiled as if I praised him. He was a nervous boy in the tenth grade and he was cute. He had a small compact body and quick blue-green eyes. He also had blonde hair with dimples.

"Hi, Brittney." He handed out the rest of the drinks and we gave him our orders. Then, he scurried away when Alistair and Jeremey glared at him.

"Alex?" They both muttered in unison then glared at each other. I burst out laughing. Joey and the rest stared at us like we were crazy. The table had three chairs on each table side. The boys took one side while us girl took the other. We each sat in front of our alleged date.

The food was brought by Alex and the boys wolfed the food down. We girls sat primly and ate small bites. Finally, we were all down and it was time for the plan to activate. I looked to Jeremey and we nodded at each other.

"Okay! Alistair, come with me to pay the check and we can hang out together." I told him and he nodded. Gosh, he was just so cute! I kissed his cheek again and I went to find Antonio.

***Jeremey's POV***

It's for Aiden. For Aiden! Ugh. I always got stuck doing the horrible jobs. I turned to Mallory to see her staring at me.

"Mal," I said and scratched the back of my head to cover up the wince, "I need to talk to you..." She nodded. Well, that was easy. We both walked out of the restaurant and she turned to me.

And sighed, "I'll leave him alone." She said and I gaped, "I just spent the whole hour in there realizing what a bitch I've been to my best friend. You know I would never want to hurt her. I just never realized. She's the cloud of hope in my life and I just realized I could lose her." Mallory started to cry and on impulse I hugged her.

She pulled away and started to walk away. I followed her.

"Tell me about it," I offered and she shook her head.

"No." She muttered. She didn't look perfect anymore. More like a broken doll. Her brown hair was mussed and her crystal blue eyes were dark.

"Come on," I coaxed. And soon regretted it. She turned to me with her eyes blazing.

"Fine!" She screamed, "My dad has cancer. My real mom is a drunk. My fake step-mom is waiting for my dad to die to get the money because he owns several companies. And I can't do anything about it!"

My eyes widen. That's why Joey was willing to do anything for her.

"Oh, Mal." I whispered and her eyes widened as we looked around.

"Where are we?" She asked and I looked around. Shit.

***Joey's POV***

"It looks like we're alone." Aiden said and I felt butterflies settle in my stomach. I was worried about Mallory, though. So I couldn't concentrate on Aiden.

"Should we go find Mally and Jeremey?" I asked and Aiden looked slightly disappointed at my question. Then, his eyes twinkled.

"Sure."

We left the restaurant after I made sure Brittney would be okay. And promptly got lost.
