Promoter Considering Michael Jackson Tribute Concert on His Birthday

Michael Jackson's London tour promoter, AEG, has stated that it is considering a London tribute concert on the singer's birthday, which would be broadcast around the world.
Timing is going to be everything when it comes to any official Michael Jackson tribute events. The singer's birthday is coming up on August 29th, but there are also concerns still lingering over the singer's death and his estate. Of course, AEG is trying to find some way to recoup the losses it surely incurred as a result of Jackson's untimely death.

He was scheduled to perform 50 London concerts at the 02 Arena over the course of the coming months and that may have possibly served as a springboard to larger venues and new locations around the world. Now that Jackson is gone, the promoter and others who have lost financially will have to be careful as to how they choose to honor Jackson - and how to profit from the tribute format that they employ.

There is rumor that remaining members of the Jackson family would be brought to London to participate in a tribute show. Television rights to broadcast the event around the world would certainly be lucrative, but logistics may be difficult in trying to estimate and then capture a prime time U.S. audience.

Any tribute would likely have to include past performances from Michael, not just remembrances and family performances, as that already occurred at his memorial service. There may also be conflicts with licensing as various parties position themselves to profit from any global Jackson tribute.
