Problems with iPhone
Though the iPhone has enjoyed tremendous success and popularity, there are still a few problems with iPhone that we could do without.

Today the 4th generation of iPhone is being sold in the market, and this was released in June 2010. Since the release of the first iPhone in June 2007, we have seen the iPhone 3G (in July 2008) and the iPhone 3GS (in June 2009) before we have reached the iPhone 4G. Sales figures of these devices has been absolutely phenomenal, and these figures have been reached in spite of the problems and deficiencies that we will mention here. So, let's start off with the latest iPhone.
Problems with iPhone 4
This phone was released amidst much fanfare, and the most attractive thing about this device was the Retina Eye Display, which gave the device a staggering resolution of 640 x 960 pixels, making this the brightest and best display screen at the time. Moreover, Steve Jobs finally incorporated the ability to carry out multitasking on this phone, making it one of the most awaited releases in recent times. But in spite of its amazing features, here are some iPhone 4G problems that people discovered.
- The biggest problem (dubbed 'Antennagate') was that when people held the phone a certain way, their fingers covered the antenna on the left hand side of the phone, thus leading to a massive drop in the network signal. People were enraged and demanded a refund, but Apple dealt with the problem admirably.
- People initially complained about the appearance of yellow spots and patches on their screen which ruined the effect of the Retina Eye Display. This turned out to be caused by undried glue, which is very unlike Apple. The problem faded away after a few days.
- Some people have also had issues with the volume rocker on the device. When they try to increase the volume, it gets reduced, and vice versa. Note that all these points are problems with iPhone 4 that people have faced and reported. There could be more problems that have gone unreported by people, and these points certainly do not talk about the deficiencies in software and features on the device.
Problems with iPhone 3GS
When Apple sold 1 million iPhone 3GS units in 3 days, there were bound to be some issues with some devices. Even now, with the introduction of iOS4 on the iPhone 4, people who install this latest version on their iPhone 3GS are reporting many compatibility issues and slowdown of speed as well. Here are some problems with new iPhone 3GS models that people faced.
- The iPhone 3GS had a white plastic back, and this phone had a lot of trouble dealing with overheating. As a result, the back of the phone often melted a bit and appeared pink in color after a while.
- A problem with version 3.0 of the iOS was that some icons often depicted the wrong applications, whereas some icons just disappeared altogether.
- People who install iOS4 on the 3GS may have to deal with extremely slow speeds and also an added drain on the battery of the device. To solve this, Apple has released version 4.1 with suitable upgrades and updates. If you find your iPhone battery draining fast, you can either carry out iPhone battery replacement, or find ways to increase your iPhone battery life.
Since the release of the iPhone 4, Apple has stopped manufacturing both these models because they are now obsolete. Still, these are the phones that really made the iPhone brand famous, and their importance cannot be overlooked. They were not without their share of problems either.
- The proximity sensor on the phones was not good enough. This resulted in a lot of calls being dropped while you were talking, or accidentally calling a different number in the middle of a conversation.
- If you are attempting to run iOS4 on your iPhone or iPhone 3G, we strongly recommend that you do not do so. Not even version 4.1. The strain on your battery will be too much, and you will face many software problems and connectivity problems (especially with the Wi-Fi) as well.
