By far, the most common and conventional are the wooden privacy fence plans. What makes them a popular choice is the fact that they are well suited for a variety of houses. Normally, these fences comprise wooden planks placed next to each other, creating a solid barrier. You can get several options, as far as design and color of the boards is concerned. But wood is also prone to weather changes and it might wear down or fade because of that.
Beating Around the 'Bush'
Well, what can be better than beautiful shrubs and bushes to adorn your fence, right? Evergreen shrubs like Emerald arborvitae are a good options for a privacy screen. It is a tall shrub, with flat, long-lasting needles and dense growth patterns. Another shrub you can consider is Irish Juniper. It can add a real jazzy touch to your privacy fence on account of its lovely bluish green color. Moreover, these are real narrow, almost akin to a column, again making them a great choice for privacy fences.
Hedge, or Edge?
Creating a nice hedge, can be incorporated to add a different element to the privacy fencing plans, what say? Hedges can be used as a different type of privacy screen. Hedges are closely spaced line of shrubs and tree species. These are pruned and grown in a way that they demarcate an area prominently. The thing which can be a bit of a hassle is that hedge plants need a lot of attention and constant care. Because, if these grow in a haphazard way, they are bound to look bad. There are 2 types in this, clipped and un-clipped hedges.
The Oriental Connection
If all the above are not in your scheme of privacy fence ideas don't despair, there are more options. Bamboo, for instance can be a totally unique proposition for a privacy fence. It is available in different styles and comes in different panels. Although, it might not suit a range of styles of home, as it quintessentially gives a tropical look. At the same time, it is beneficial for the environment and it grows quickly. Even when you cut it, it grows very quickly again. This results in bamboo being a really sustainable material for building. .
Vines
Vines and lattice is yet another option. Although it is not exactly a very sturdy option, if you are looking for decorative privacy fences, this is surely a good choice. Wood lattice is not going to be as sturdy as conventional wood fencing, but it is needed to support the growth of vine plants. If there are flowering vines, they can add a different dimension and color to the fence. Further, if there are any heating or cooling units in the yard, if planted properly, they can hide these not-so-attractive features in the yard.
You just need to be a bit creative and think of what all things (of course in relation to gardening and landscaping) you can use to make a privacy screen.
You can have a plain concrete and bricks fence. Or if you are ready for some experiments, you can even have a bi-fold metal fence, combine bamboo and brick or concrete and vines and so on! All the best!
