President, Arizona Governor Share Words on Tarmac
Arizona Governor Jan Brewer wagged a finger at President Obama during a terse exchange in Phoenix.
Brewer’s book, "Scorpions for Breakfast: My Fight Against Special Interests, Liberal Media and Cynical Politicos to Secure America's Border," includes a description of a meeting she had with Obama in June, 2010. At that time, the White House referred to the meeting as a "good meeting" and Brewer’s office called it "cordial." But Brewer told the truth in her book, noting that she was treated poorly by White House aides, was not allowed to take photographs outside the Oval Office and generally had a bad time of it. Noted Brewer in her book, "Too bad we weren’t illegal aliens, or we could have sued them."
Brewer also said that the president was "condescending" and that he lectured her on his own attempts to work on immigration reform. Said Brewer of the meeting, "It wasn't long before I realized I was hearing the president's stump speech. Only I was supposed to listen without talking. Did he care to hear the view from the actual scene at the border? Did the opinions and observations of the people of Arizona mean anything to him? I didn't think so."
