Preparing Lobster Tail
Lobster tail is very easy to prepare and eating them feels like heaven. Read on for a step wise guide on broiling and steaming lobster tails at home.

Broiling Lobster Tails
For this, you can either use the frozen lobster tails or buy some fresh ones too. I prefer the fresh lobster tails. In case you have the frozen ones, they need to be defrosted first. To do that refrigerate them for about ten hours, before preparation.
- The first thing that you should do is to pre- heat the oven at 500° F.
- Take the lobster tail, place it on a cutting board and start cutting it. For this, you will need sharp kitchen sheers. Remember to always start cutting the shell which is at the top side. Also, do not ever cut the meat. The shell too should not be completely cut, instead it should be cut just a little short of the lobster tail end.
- The next step entails preparation of the marinade. To prepare marinade, combine butter, paprika, lemon juice, garlic powder and salt and mix them together.
- To apply the marinade, firstly spread the lobster tail which had been split earlier and then when the meat is exposed, put marinade on it.
- Now, place the lobster tail on a broiler pan and put it in the pre-heated oven.
- To calculate cooking time, consider the weight of the lobster tails. If the lobster tails weigh five ounces that means they have to be cooked for five minutes.
- When the lobster tails get cooked, the meat color becomes white. Remember not to overcook otherwise the meat will become very rubber like and hard, and will not taste good. To get a slight golden color on the meat, you may cook for little extra time.
Properly steamed lobster tails are as good as broiled or baked lobster tails in taste. For steaming lobster tails, I prefer to use a bamboo steamer, so you too find a good one, before setting out to steam the lobster tails. Here is the method for steaming lobster tails.
- The first step entails separating the shell and the meat. To do this, take the kitchen sheers and cut the shell from the middle of the lobster tail, towards its base. Do not cut the base of the shell as the same is used to hold the meat while eating. When the cut is made, separate the shell and expose the meat.
- Next, prepare the marinade. Combine melted butter, lemon juice, ginger powder, garlic powder, paprika, rosemary and salt and mix them together.
- Spread this mixture evenly on the lobster tail. An easy way to do that is to simply rotate the lobster tail in the mixture.
- Take a large pan, fill it with water and place the bamboo steamer in it. When the water starts boiling, keep the lobster tails in the middle of the steamer and put on the lid. The cooking time will depend on the weight of the lobster. Remember that lighter lobsters get cooked earlier than heavier ones.
